I'm saying it. I choose the bully over MC. First, MC's head is literally empty. An unknown girl impersonates your childhood friend and you just roll with it. Also there's a limit to call someone your friend. This is a flaw, but it can be very interesting if used correctly for the narrative.
As for the bully. It seems he lost his father little less than a year ago. To that you sum his mother is clearly depressed, maybe drinking? It seems he's low on money. Logic thing if you consider the only one that can work is his depressed mother. He also has the old hag breathing down his neck. (Accusing someone of arson for not taking out the trash has to be illegal man). Now to clarify, I'm not defending him, just stating facts. Add up the fact that he's a kid (13, 15?) and it's common he extorts someone too nice. Again, not defending.
As far as we go, bully has parents that affect him (dead dad & depressed mother), has problems (being suspended and poor) and insecurities. We'll surely see more of that next chapter.
Now let's compare that to MC: He doesn't have friends but doesn't really care. Lives alone, again, doesn't care. Seems like, besides the bully, he doesn't really have any problems. Haven't seen him passionate about anything or having any hooby either. Dude just... exists and that's it? Like the author just needed a random character to fill the space. Honestly, he just rows the story, being moved my Miyu from point A to point B so things progress and other, more interesting characters can develop.
OF COURSE this is chapter 3 of what hopefully will be 80 chapters or so of things. I really hope that, by the end, MC is... well, a person and not just a bland character focused on breathing. See ya next time gang!
