I know it's supposed to be at least partly played for comedy, but every time Reina gets upset at the idea of any degree of separation from or developing a sense of self that doesn't orbit Klael, I'm reminded that it's because she was so horribly abused that she's trauma-bonded to the first person to show her any amount of kindness so hard that she can't mentally function without him. Given that in the Otome Game's story (the one where Klael isn't a reincarnator or wasn't present at all to intercept her fate) she was even more horribly abused by the temple after being sent off to the capital, it's a wonder that she wasn't completely insane and could function as the heroine of an Otome game at all.
