Well we know the gender swap couples going to end up together wonder if blondie will end up with the childhood friend. Seems the childhood friend might had feelings for the sister who died where the brother is getting some pent up affection from that and blondie is just searching for anyone that truly cares and listens to her honestly don't think it makes sense for them to happen and will be kind of forced if it does.

........ I'm super annoyed. "He" was wearing a girl's uniform with a skirt in the flashback.... really?

It is worth emphasizing that the kanji 「彼」 is almost always read as「かれ 」/"he/him," which is what Reika used to refer to Chiaki in past chapters. The other reading of 「あれ」/"are" is written out in hiragana basically 100% of the time, very rarely in kanji. I just mentioned it 'cause I thought there might be a slim chance of ambiguity. Also Reika refers to Chiaki with "-kun" (male honorific, only gender neutral in workplace). The only other series I can think of that refers to a girl with "-kun" is Kashima from "Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun," but that's part of the character's shtick.

One thing I did forget to mention that is pretty major to this chapter is that Chiaki uses 「オレ」/"ore" (male pronoun) in the flashback. Which would contribute to Reika's "perception" of Chiaki. That one is my bad and will add a TL Note A.S.A.P.

For the most part I do believe the intent of the author is to sorta mess around with the ideas and perceptions surrounding gender. In the case of Reika I'm fairly confident this is the direction the character's suppose to take. If however the author decides to dump some exposition on Reika's exact view of Chiaki in later chapters (as of ch. 24 this is not the case) that shows I've made a mistake, then I will update the chapters to reflect that.

@kuachi I think the translations are fine, they convey already how Reika perceives Saotome as an attractive man despite her real gender. You don't really have make things more complicated because we (readers) don't really care about it that.

Message is sent with a little ambiguity and is understood by (most) of us, so good job :D

Why not just use they instead of forcing he/him on gender neutral pronouns?

Def thought that was the main character in the beginning there and not saotome. This manga is confusing but draws me in still

How could anyone get confuse with the "He" that blondie was refering to given the context?

She talking about her and the reverse-trap in her story, why the hell would she need the trap?

@Loksel it's not really gender neutral pronoun as the translator explained it in the comment section. Rather, in most of the case there is a clear distinction about when to use which. If Reika referred to the reverse trap as a girl, normally she would use "kanojo" instead, and the person in question used very masculine first person pronoun too. It's rare but there are girls know as ボク少女/俺女 boku shoujo/ore onna - girls that use boku/ore instead.

I think for the sake of simplicity and to go along with the plot as apart of the audience I'll continue to refer Kaoru as he/him.

SO why the heck couldn't the blondie just get closer to Chiaki on her own since she knew her from way before?
Why must she make use of them? Just do yo own shit instead of dragging others in.
