God, I hate this kind of baiting so much. All it does it frustrate the reader and stall out progress. Why are so many romance manga obsessed with the before a relationship happens? Just make the cute couple date already and keep writing!

It truly is incredible how much writers can't ever seem to find balance to gauge how many milestones before the start of a relationship in a romcom, save for some I'd consider with actual good pacing/consequences (Aharen-san comes to mind, Monica and Chandler in Friends for a western example).

I feel, however, that Japanese literature has this on 11. Even more so since they always repeat all the same damn tropes like clockwork.
