so basically just Amanda Townley De Santa?
Because that's how they talk in the original text. It's full of slang, Japanese has a word which maps really, really well to “purityfag” which is one of the rare cases in this title I could translate a sexual slang term that's relevant to the plot to one in English as usually I can't do it that neatly and have to use a non-slang term and add a note that they're using a slang term specific to prostitute. “Ghl” is just a translation of the Japanese sound effect for gulping, which English doesn't really have. Japanese conventions have sound effects for many things English conventions lack, and vice-versā.I've been a long time reader of manga. I thought this was a different and unique story, interesting read. But I hate to say it... but the translator... it felt worse than a bad translate. Why did the scanslator think it was 'cool' to change common vernacular with half english-english slang and the 'purityfag', 'mate', 'glh' things like that. I really felt the dialog was almost by all means a better word of 'made up' if I hadn't found an alternate source. This was my face through all the chapters.
That's simply Mangadex culture that has a habit of heavily downrating about anything that isn't escapism for lonely males, at least since the hack occured since it didn't happen before that but many people that balanced it out left at that point it seems.I don't think this manga deserved that bad of a score. I know it's not really amazing but 6? It should've been around 8
It only has 120 chapters on Mangabox which counts the chapters differently and seems to make them shorter and often only 10 pages. The fact that this manga has over 120 chapters is insane. Honestly I don't see how the tension and drama can keep up for that long without devolving into miscommunication or tedium.
Yea i realized that later on w/ a different manga. kinda weird they do it like that cuz it's a bit of a mindfuck to see massive chapter numbers on seemingly tightly contained stories. It only has 120 chapters on Mangabox which counts the chapters differently and seems to make them shorter and often only 10 pages.
Even in the volume releases, there are often 7/8 chapters per volume rather than the usual 4 chapters per volume. The reason I tend to release a new chapter every 1.5 days or something is because they're so short, most titles I do, I release a new chapter every 3-5 days or something.
Hello, do you plan on completing this series?Because that's how they talk in the original text. That long-time readers of translations of Japanese strips are confused by slang speaks to the dire state of the translation culture and how localized it is, as actual Japanese fiction is full of slang, but it's often translated to textbook English with other strange conventions that are simply mistranslated written of as “Japanese culture” such as “love confession” and “I'll never forgive you!” so people have a very wrong idea apparently what actual Japanese fiction is like and think Japan is a country that doesn't have slang. Whereas in Japanese fiction, the register a character speaks at, and how slangy it is, is typically a big part of the character's identities and they very purposefully design the lines of various characters to be slangy to give them an identity.
I'm not really blaming you. I'd be hypocrite for me to do so since I once called out a translator on a grammar mistake before I knew Japanese years back, not realizing at the time that Japanese source material is full of intentional grammar mistakes to give characters an identity, but actual Japanese fiction is very, very different from the localized, sterilized product most translators turn it into. In the source material slang and cartoonish role-typed language is heavily embraced.

These are rated even worse but are given normal ratings at other websites:

There are many such cases; it's not that they are filled with highly stellar writing they don't deserve all the 0s either and many other things that are just as bad aren't downrated as heavily on Mangadex, seemingly for no other reason than having a male protagonist.
I don't really care much about Mangadex for that reason. You'll note that The Princess of Ecstatic Island has poor ratings and next to no comments, go to Bato.to and it has a decent rating and a lot of comments and this is by the way a Dead Tube-esque shock value gore and rape title. But the difference with Dead Tube is that it has a female protagonist and targets masochistic girls so on MangaDex it will receive extremely poor ratings. It doesn't get super high ratings on Bato.to either compared to others because it's a shock value gore title, but it's not remotely as bad either.

I'll start translating it right away when a new volume comes out. I have no idea when that will be.Hello, do you plan on completing this series?

Obviously. They speak Japanese. They don't sound like they speak English at all. Did you think Japanese people sounded like any particular variety of English? They do not talk like theyre british
Yes well, suppose that be so, which I doubt, it only happens on Mangadex and I for one don't much care about this place. Other websites are bigger, have far more discussion, and it's obvious what gets downrated here and that this website is filled with people who have a certain sexual frustration to deal with. Though admittedly it's gradually improved since comments came back. The random british is annoying and this meme translation is why this has such a low score
The huge stack of 1’s is evidence enough that this title is getting downrated, but I found it pretty funny that it still has a similar score on every tracking service listed on the title. It’d be interesting to see how well it’s rated in Japan though 🤔Obviously. They speak Japanese. They don't sound like they speak English at all. It only has a similar score as in, around 7, because Mangadex' scoring system is really odd and doesn't seem to compute the average. 7 is average on MyAnimeList or Anilist while it's extremely low on MangaDex. It's clear that when looking at the distribution that the average cannot possibly be 6.11. More like 2. I'm not sure how it computes the score. The huge stack of 1’s is evidence enough that this title is getting downrated, but I found it pretty funny that it still has a similar score on every tracking service listed on the title. There’s actually a whole blog post about how the calculate their ratings if I remember correctly (it’s a lot more complicated than just taking the mean and it accounts for when there’s a small number of reviews)It only has a similar score as in, around 7, because Mangadex' scoring system is really odd and doesn't seem to compute the average. 7 is average on MyAnimeList or Anilist while it's extremely low on MangaDex. It has an average rating on most places which is well deserved I'd say. The concept is original but the plot is full of holes and shortcomings. There are a few websites that completely bomb it, but those websites bomb everything that dares to commit the atrocity of featuring female characters who aren't virgins.
As said though, it improved greatly as of late. It can clearly be seen in the ratings for instance:
These started when the comments were back again:
https://mangadex.org/title/2bc6a63a...stitute-bride-is-captured-by-the-yandere-lord [this one in particular has an absolutely nonsensical, terrible plot, but amazing sex scenes]
https://mangadex.org/title/f0c504c3-56eb-4bb3-bcab-427e315319c3/suspects-a-bride
These were when they were down:
https://mangadex.org/title/bd27fe2c-e023-4f70-9541-6a60cd7b5839/watashi-wa-s-ni-sakaraenai
https://mangadex.org/title/d6c7d47d-9f02-4ddb-886d-010a2142776e/hirumano-blue-paradox [The ratings here, my god, it's an infidelity anthology of course]
These were from before
https://mangadex.org/title/f9d32481-09d0-42f4-840a-ca51ec9ce4a4

You can be assured that all of them would receive horrible ratings if they primarily ran during the comments being down. There was definitely something going on during that time and it seems like everyone but the worst and most entitled sexually frustrated male left the website for other places at that time but many came back again with the comments.
