I always think a mix of a lot of things from their typical male readers perspective.

But isn’t it often said men grew up mentally (and sexually) slower than women?
Like the level of idealising pure love in (high school) shonen manga is probably on the level of (elementary school) shojo manga. They still held irrational ideals about having the perfect and pure first love which will guide them to living happily ever after; so they put a lot of importance on not getting wrong on that first time.

That's great analysis. The MC heard this and knew the correct choice. He made the Chad decision to protect the emotionally unstable FMC from hurting herself further. He calmed her down and had a honest conversation about their relationship.

The way the author handled this subject was pretty tacky tbh.

Like, it was right for the Mc not to do anything to the girl, but the way they just glossed over some frankly very serious abuse from the girls mother just dosent sit well with me.

I dunno, I'm not expecting Shakespearian levels of writing from a smut manga but I do expect some deeper nuance than this from the author.
