One thing I don't understand is how the hell the kingdom has been standing for so long. If everything relies on Spirit power and they mistreat the spirits why do the spirits stay? As a comparison it'd be like if electricity was alive and we decided to torture it for fun and it had the ability to just leave.

so, is that really all the karma they’re gonna get, or are there more consequences coming for all of MC former party? i’d rather they suffer as much as possible, getting killed isn’t an option in this manga (the author didn’t include “gore” tag in this manga, only featuring naive MC in here) :haa:

Maybe bcs, they've been treated very well all this time by Univas.
Until Univas kicked from the party, and the kingdom spread a lies, telling that Univas died and his legacy is to keep all spirits to stay and working with human there.
That's why, when they finally learn the truth, that's the moment they start fighting back.
Basically, all holding by duct 'n tape, Univas.

Man, one time a kid asked me basically the same question about the American South in the 1800s and I just :fml:

Moving swiftly onwards: I think we're supposed to believe that up until now, the kingdom and spirits coexisted peacefully, with Univas representing a recent high point in interspecies relations. Such a high point that the naive spirits can be enslaved just by telling them "Univas loved you and died for your sins, the least you could do is honor his final wish."

But it's a problem with basically any slop-tier fantasy that relies on "spirit magic," isn't it? The answers to the questions "What are they doing when not serving humanity," "Why should they listen to that girl," and "What motivates them" are pretty crap if they even exist at all.

Kind of a shame, because I think that most actual folk beliefs about human-like supernatural races have developed whole cultures for their fairies or djinn or olympic gods or whatever. Easy to borrow from if you don't feel like diy-ing. But they usually don't.

The difference between the spirits and slaves is that the spirits can leave whenever they want and there's not really anything the humans can do to stop them. Most of them can't even see the lower tier spirits.

But the kingdom has a history of treating Spirits horribly. Why didn't they leave before Univas was born? Obviously the author didn't think about any of this.

Aka a very dissappointing result, he
insults the shark king TWICE and he is let go after a kick and pissing his pants? He should be humiliated more until his home country become a laughing stock.

This shit is so arse. Yes that is the correct spelling.

I dunno man, can we get Univas exonerated in public ASAP. I don't think we'll have that for another 4 volumes at this rate. Ah well, I'll be here for the next chapter.

Something i’ve never really understood is why an author would decide to make a volume cover have only the despicable, widely-disliked characters be the featured characters
