Add to that, the glasses make you basically not recognize the wearer's face. It's practically impossible for Rudeus to recognize Sylphie unless she herself said something.
Can someone pls help me find a site with all the current light novel chapters or a site with the webnovel chapters. I know this is being picky, but if you do find a webnovel site plz make sure it is organized by chapter not volume. Plz n thank
@Princeray The most you'll find would probably be sorted by WN volume. If that won't do for you, then there's always google.
BTW, just to let everyone know how impressive the feat Rudeus did in this chapter:
•
Disturb Magic is basically unknown by almost everyone but REALLY old beings, except for Rudeus. It's pretty obvious how OP it is against magicians. The only real weakness of it is that the spell he's trying to void has to be within his field of vision
• The barrier they had around is Saint-ranked level. Remember the huge-ass storm Rudeus made during his last test with Roxy which, according to Rudeus himself, can level a city with no problem? The barrier would have shielded attacks of that caliber, yet Rudeus shattered it using a small Rock Bullet (a supposedly intermediate spell with little to no fatality, except at the hands of chantless magicians since they can change the size and speed of the spell)
• The wall he damaged on page 21 is made with anti-magic materials. As the name states, it's practically immune to magic attacks (yes, even rocks made with magic) yet he cracked it (it was described as destroyed in the WN so it may be due to changes made)
@Keansor
"Fitts" is Ariel's bodyguard/Guardian. Not only that, "Fitts" is known to be brilliant and ridiculously powerful. If Ariel's Guardian Mage were revealed to be a woman, it would be extremely bad for political reasons. No one knows Fitts isn't a dude, either, since he doesn't talk in public unless absolutely necessary. Hence, "Silent Fitts". If Fitts, the ridiculously powerful mage were to suddenly vanish (and be replaced with some rando called sylphiette) assassination attempts would skyrocket
@adfjs
Ran Ma (disturb magic) is a little more than 'old' beings. It's pretty much Orsted, Perugius, and MAYBE the immortal demon kings/queens. That's it. It's a completely lost art. The only reason Orsted knows it is because he knows every technique to have ever been used. Perugius might know it because he's fucking Perugius
@nobaka I was under the impression Ariel had removed herself from politics because of said assassination attempts, hence why she left. As a result of that, there'd be no reason for Sylph to continue to pretend to be a man - especially at a college of magic where there's no discrimination based on gender - or even continue going by the name of Fitts.
EDIT: going back and reading the relevant chapters I see that she was only temporarily removing herself from politics, but it also said that they disappeared suddenly and nobody knows what happened to them. Seems a bit weird that the 3rd in line to the throne could take up an official role in a famous mage school and nobody in her country would know about it, but apparently that's the case. I also didn't see any mention of why her being a boy would be bad, so I don't know why that's necessary. Does the light novel go into more detail and give an actual explanation?
@ichi24 Most likely copied from MT considering how old the original material is.
@nobaka Yes, I guess that's true. When I said "really old beings," I'm actually thinking of Atolfe's chief guard/assistant but yes, it's basically a lost art since we really didn't see anyone else using it.
No, she ran away due to assassinations, yes, but the reason why she's in the school is to gather political powers since there are a lot of noble children in there. She will never quit from politics, even if it meant certain death.
Spies are pretty hard to put there since no nobility has any real power inside the school's territory and trying to spy there can be interpreted as an act of war. Although magicians aren't the most powerful in duels, you DON'T mess with a country (actually 3 countries in alliance IIRC) mostly made by magicians. They are really powerful in war. If you do, be sure to get a god-level swordsman by your side (or maybe Rudeus for that matter) otherwise, your country will be reduced to rubble.
@chendu so they made it too overly obvious for us. It'd be better if they drew it as Rudy would see her. What caused mana overdrain or was that just her using too much mana?
@Liquidxlax yeah they did, in the ln pics her glasses are not transparent if I remember correctly
and I think we've seen the scene in the manga, it's when she appear in the princess garden.. there's a monster there too that kills the guard and she use magic to kill it, being in shock from the Teleportation she don't control how much and it drains her of everything, permanently turning her hair white
something that also happen to another char a while after but this char only have one strand of her turning white
@Keansor
Yeah, she fled from being assassinated fully intending to return and try to claim the throne (or die trying). And even if she wasn't planning to return, the Asura kingdom couldn't be seen as not protecting (from an outside view, anyway) their own royal family. The LN does go into much more depth than the manga (on pretty much everything). imo, read the LN and then read this as a fun graphical rendition to accompany it. Altho then you'll be stuck waiting for your favorite parts.
@adfjs
lol i totally forgot that dude could use it. gj atofe
@Liquidxlax
yeah like @chendu mentioned it's because she was teleported into the air and used everything her body had and more to survive by blasting wind magic downwards. It's been a while, but I don't even remember if she intended the kill the monster that squished redbat or if she just happened to appear above it and her blasting magic down to slow herself killed it. In any case, yeah, massive mana drain.
• The wall he damaged on page 21 is made with anti-magic materials. As the name states, it's practically immune to magic attacks (yes, even rocks made with magic) yet he cracked it (it was described as destroyed in the WN so it may be due to changes made)
In a not so distant future fight (like a few chapter away if I remember correctly) he goes destroying one of the strongest warrior, with the strongest defence and regeneration and the magic proof wall behind him, putting a gigantic hole in it with one fully powered stone bullet
Well even without it is still in top ten and the demon lord that boast immortality... I don't think even orsted at full power could really kill him ... and even without the armor is still one of the two strongest defensively ( the number one being the watergod )
