- Please put the name of the song and what anime it came from in your submission. It will help everyone else know what song they are listening to, and where it's from. Some of the videos' title isn't very clear. It'd be easier for me to organize and check them, too.

Okay. First, Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US. Hopefully you avoid awkward discussions about the elections with relatives you don't see much. Picks: Lions destroy the Bears by about 30, Cowboys lose to the Giants by a FG, and (checks weather forecast for Green Bay) Packers over the Dolphins by a TD.

Songs: Like me, these are all old - at least 20 years old at this point.

Spoiler: Love Squall - Lupin III Series 2

"Love Squall" was originally used in the first "Lupin III" animated movie in 1978, which in the US is known either as "Lupin vs. the Clone" or "Secret of Mamo." It was used by the second (red jacket) television series as an ending.

Spoiler: Kimi wa Tennen Shoku - Kakushigoto

Originally appearing on the Eiichi Ohtaki album "A Long Vacation" from 1981 (an absolute landmark of Japanese pop, and worth a listen all the way through), "Kimi wa Tennen Shoku" was used by the anime adaptation of "Kakushigoto" in 2020.

Spoiler: Lambada☆RANMA - Ranma 1/2

Ever watched an episode of an anime and thought, "I sure wish they'd summarize the underlying setting of the series, and run through all the major characters, while rolling credits?" No? Me neither. But clearly someone on the original "Ranma 1/2" anime production staff did, because we got "Lambada☆RANMA" in 1992.

Spoiler: Ride On Shooting Star - FLCL

2000's "FLCL" - need I say more? (Beyond FUCK THE SEQUELS, and FUCK ADULT SWIM, that is.) "Ride On Shooting Star" by the Pillows (the greatest Japanese rock band ever - fight me). Haruko is still my waifu.

Spoiler: Yume Warai, Uhyohyo - Puni Puni Poemi

This one is kind of a throwaway, although it's also one of two of these (with FLCL) I actually own on DVD. Coming from a one-shot gag in the "Excel Saga" anime, 2001's "Puni Puni Poemi" (English spelling varies) was Nabeshin being Nabeshin at the height of his weirdness, but is also an excellent send up of the Magical Girl genre. The ending song "Yume Warai, Uhyohyo" is no exception.

Spoiler: Afro Gunso - Keroro Gunso

Dance☆Man had already established himself as an artist when 2004's anime of "Keroro Gunso" (or "Sgt. Frog" in the US) came calling for a theme song. He obliged with the banger that is "Afro Gunso," which is way more energetic than most of those frogs were.

are visuals supposed to be a factor on how we vote? say there's a TV version, 90 second youtube video of an ending as it's shown in an anime—if that entry is up against a ~4 minute long real-life music video, would we just vote based on our overall enjoyment of each?

if so, then that's all well and good. i'm just wondering if there will be any additional measures taken to stress continuities in the submission mediums and by extension voting. for example, initially matching up 'full music vids vs. full music vids' and '90 sec animated endings vs 90 sec animated endings.'

if voting is based solely on audio then none of this is a concern of course. but if visuals are a factor then it would be good to know for posterity's sake, since choosing the right video for each submission will be just as important as the songs themselves, and we'll have to consider the various video options available (likeTopic channels, official music vids, animation, etc.)
