i think MC said something about the enemy being so low tech that most of strategies about how to deal with them are not teached anymore and he tried to use modern concepts to try and win just to get horde mob.So this Duke Zichtberg is someone who is supposedly a veteran, had his fair share of commanding troops in war, but still not knowing about the characteristic of cavalry? Who in their right mind sending cavalry into anything other than open field? Unless the horse being used is an umamusume then he's just sending them to death![]()
He was a politician not a military person. He was given the title of Marshal, which in this world, is a civilian rank that has political/ceremonial connotations. Prev chapter, MC also says Zichtberg literally has no military experience, like the Duchess of the 5th house and the Colonel up until the battle at the fort.So this Duke Zichtberg is someone who is supposedly a veteran, had his fair share of commanding troops in war, but still not knowing about the characteristic of cavalry? Who in their right mind sending cavalry into anything other than open field? Unless the horse being used is an umamusume then he's just sending them to death![]()
Redrawing the smaller stuff where the kana/kanji are just on top of patterns and simple white space has been easy enough, and even on top of more complex shapes it's been fun to redraw it all so it looks nice for you guys. But this chapter was just... ugh. The first page that needed redrawing took me 3 straight full days of work, and then when I got to later pages that had a lot of fades, transitions, and details that were hard to repeat, it was just too difficult for me to do.
Unless someone comes forward to help with that then I'll probably do just that and put the SFX nearby or in the margins. It bothered me that I wasn't able to meet the expectation especially since I've been able to redraw every page prior to this.
Maybe I'm holding myself to too high a standard, but I want to give this series the treatment that other better teams are able to give.
I could be wrong but I think it was mentioned in past chapters that Zichtbergs are the second rank among the nobles and their territory borders that of Kionis. So this Duke Zichtberg is someone who is supposedly a veteran, had his fair share of commanding troops in war, but still not knowing about the characteristic of cavalry? Who in their right mind sending cavalry into anything other than open field? Unless the horse being used is an umamusume then he's just sending them to death![]()
IIRC, they use flintlock muskets in this manga. That should be at least early 18th century, in our world it would be Great Northern War. So, sword fighting wouldn't be completely out of place, especially with those of higher standings. In last chapter, page 13, MC and colonel did say Marshal Zichtberg had no real combat experience, so it can be a case of an amateur messing shits up... as the duchess had planned.I also think "Veteran" also plays a huge part in it. I don't know how 'new' artillery and guns are, considering that the sword instructor was a former knight that was almost retired (pls tell me if I'm wrong), Marshal Zichtberg might have been very accomplished BEFORE the age of guns and artillery, last chapter had people laughing at him for using a formation used for spears or something. Good for him for getting with the technology, but not applying it correctly I guess?
I think the significance of those panels where he recalled his kendo experience was that instead of using the grim reaper to know when to dodge/duck/retreat, he used it to turn a crisis into an opportunity to boldly exploit an opening.Man's got balls of steel to use the grim reaper to know when to duck!
Chapter 18, page 13: "Hehe, what a reckless thing to do. He thought it was a good idea even though he didn't know how many enemies are even in the city? Even for a person like Duke Zichtberg, who has absolutely no combat experience, that kind of decision..."So this Duke Zichtberg is someone who is supposedly a veteran, had his fair share of commanding troops in war, but still not knowing about the characteristic of cavalry? Who in their right mind sending cavalry into anything other than open field? Unless the horse being used is an umamusume then he's just sending them to death![]()
