she do try to make the mom jealous in volume 3 with her whole plan (turn herself into a rival sort of, because ayako was being too carefree about it), but don't develop feeling for him other than seeing him as future family, because she already got rejected back in the day, in which miu plan succeed anyway (she used to have feelings for him when they were younger, but after she got rejected, she was just waiting for takumi to keep his promise to her when they were kids, which was for them to become a family, as in takumi being her dad lol)

ayako and takumi don't end up dating until volume 4, due to misunderstandings on how volume 3 ended, but volume 5 should be more about them working more as a couple due to how volume 4 ended, but not anytime soon, since volume 4 just got release in january

She HAS to realize that if she actually didn’t like the MC she’d 1) wouldn’t be going this roundabout way and would just plainly reject him instead of making up excuses or this convoluted plan and 2) He’d actually just give up. He doesn’t seem the type to never back down when a girl just keeps saying no (like to the point it’s just creepy). We’re only still doing this because it’s super obvious the female lead has enough affection for the male lead to consider him a romance partner; otherwise there is no plot in a romance story like this.
