theory: that shape only expanded because there was someone observing it (?)
it's hard to believe this detail to be an oversight, the artists probably meant something by not showing the upper part at first

I'm under the assumption this is the world. Like this is normal stuff which would be a nice, I only know a very few that explore that idea more.
