I'm kind of tired of him saying bloody every other word. Like, I get he's meant to be rude but it's a bit on the nose

I get what they're doing with the love interest, he's trying to protect her, he's not honest with himself, etc, but I don't care that much about her. She's too much of a straightforward goody two shoes, it's obvious they'll end up together when he admits to himself she's important to him or something.
I wish he really meant to push her away and move on with his life, as stupid as it sounds, just to surprise us, to do something a bit different even though I know it is unreasonable.

I am patiently waiting for one of those stories to put a twist on this trope and have the protagonist be actually uninterested in the love interest, for a laugh.

I can't even remember why he NEEDS to separate himself from the FL and her family anymore 💀 I don't really get it. Wouldn't it be more beneficial for him to use them as a sort of base, making them and himself stronger while also helping the hero?

I'm going to drop this manga the moment Harold says "Bloody Benchod" or some such. All of those "bloody"s can't be part of the jp dialog can it?

Bro. They're just going to fight over Erika with many more extra steps added to make it look like they were not.

I wish Erika was there to see that.

I really really like this manga... But I'm getting a bit tired too. Where is it going? It kind of feels like we lost sight of the end, which is odd because we should be getting closer to the end...
Oh bro let me tell you this is no where near the end, this will take forever to catch up with the novel even when the novel has been on a hiatus for a while now

i can see some people disliking Itsuki, since he keeps making a fool of edgy Harold, but he is my fav character in this manga.

Erika is the one that kills Harold in the game. In his view, he hasn't done anything to redeem himself in front of Erika, so she's a death flag to be avoided. He doesn't know that Erika knows what he's really been doing, and Erika is doing too good of a job of being a cordial acquaintance.

In the novel, Erika was confronted with this by a rival (yes, there will be one other love interest), saying that if she keeps it up Harold will never realize Erika's true feelings. And the one big chance Erika had to turn things around, she throws it away because "keeping his secret" was more important than letting everyone know Harold isn't a bad person.

My one main criticism of this manga is how seldomly it is letting us into the mind of Harold. It's often hard to see what the original thought behind the twisted words really was.

Harold: I must distance myself from Erika as much as possible so they don't get tied up with my bad reputation, and.... yapping

Itsuki: YOU MUST CONTINUE OUR BLOODLINE HAROLD! THERE'S NO MAN SUITABLE FOR MY SISTER BUT YOU! YOU! HAROLD! MUST! F**K! MY SISTER!

For me it's the monthly release in combination with slow pace. Barely anything happen and by the time the next chapter comes, I'll forget what happened in the last one.
Honestly I don't think the fact that the writing is so dated helps either. The cliches of dumbing down characters to force a lil bit of conflict (like here with the prince) is a typical manga writing pitfall that I feel like i've seen so many times I just feel tired when I see it now.

Wait was it Erika who killed him in the game? Was it mentioned in the manga? it's been a while since I actually read the manga and put it on hold after he got imprisoned. And now I just skimming things after they reunited.

We're reaching t- 0, aka when the game he's been isekai'd into actually starts its events. Right now we're still in the backstory / prologue of the game and seeing events that were basically just lore and described in the game proper.

Once we reach that point, things speed up quite a bit.

Harold is the game's sub-boss, basically the penultimate final villain who the main hero party need to defeat to get strong enough to beat the actual final boss. The only way he knows of to have a good shot at getting everything lined up for preventing the literal end of the world is to keep all events as similar to the game as he can.

Maybe he could team up with the main party theoretically, but he has an auto-filter on his mouth that makes anything other than solo play hard and he has no assurance that meddling with the game's plot too hard wouldn't have utterly disastrous consequences.

I might be mistaken on that part, but regardless, he definitely views the engagement as a death flag.
