What he does is pretty reasonable considering the general opinion on Harold, who's probably very close to be called the most dangerous X factor in the world at this point.

so like wasn't the whole premise to avoid the bad ending where he dies? i know i’m bringing this up rather late but he's now found himself in a situation where he's going to die very soon from the cursed sword, so at this point just kill the doctor. you're fucked regardless of whether you can prove yourself innocent so just kill the guy who is going to cause the end of the world and has made your life hell. unless i’m forgetting something that happens earlier that prevents that i feel like he's strong enough to kill the guy, and go into hiding for the last year or so of his life.

Doctor thinks Harold's gonna die soon due to the cursed sword, because he fully believes Harold has been using it more than in actuality. Reincarnator inside Harold knows about the sword's properties, though, and has been deliberately using it only as absolutely necessary, so he's got a lot more life in him than he's letting the doctor believe, but less than he would if he never got the sword at all. Beyond that, the doctor is well aware that Harold hates his guts and knows more than is letting on, and presumably has other contingencies to ensure Harold can't just off him -it's one part of why he keeps Harold running around across the nation rather than at his side. So Harold's trying to push the story along with just enough differences that he lives at the end, but the hero's party still takes out the doctor like they're originally supposed to.

Honestly hope mc makes up his god damn mind at somepoint.. its been 82 chapters and he's still treating it like a game that doesn't concern him rather than his life, bet that's one of the reasons he still cant say what he actually thinks through that filter

Not really? Maybe it doesn't come across well in the manga but in the LN Harold is seriously struggling. He's not super smart or brilliant; the only advantages he has are Harold's innate strength and his video game knowledge of the world. Said knowledge only gets him so far when he is deliberately forcing the story to change, not to mention the story only just glosses over the history before the hero party gets together. He's also hampered by the belief that no one would truly get close to him because of that filter, making him try to go it alone as much as possible. When he can't, coercion of others is the backup, not realizing there are those around him that will follow his words willingly.

ah, yeah considering he straight up said to that one girl that he won't live long i figured using the sword a single time did all the damage, but saying that to deceive him makes more sense.

How are you people not realizing that this is a literal win-win situation for Francis?
If he gets out unscathed, he literally wins.
If Harold does anything to him, all eyes are on Harold now after injuring an important figure of the country.

He's basically stacking the deck on his side.
