I'm more upset with Harold, like why would you meet Francis alone? You already don't like him and have no reason to actually meet him for anything. Yes there is Erica but she obviously doesn't care much for Francis and knows the rumors about him. Its weirder that Itsuki is trying to connect Harold with Francis since it would piss off Harold and has no real benefit for any party involved.

It came as rude only those with lower standing to him. He could converse just fine with his father. It seems if Harold consider one as higher social position than him he could be respectful at worst passive aggressive.

In short, the filter differ depending on social status(rude and vulgar to lower , diplomatic or passive aggressive to higher.)

so like wasn't the whole premise to avoid the bad ending where he dies? i know i’m bringing this up rather late but he's now found himself in a situation where he's going to die very soon from the cursed sword, so at this point just kill the doctor. you're fucked regardless of whether you can prove yourself innocent so just kill the guy who is going to cause the end of the world and has made your life hell. unless i’m forgetting something that happens earlier that prevents that i feel like he's strong enough to kill the guy, and go into hiding for the last year or so of his life.
