i've read a little ahead in the novel, and although it seems interesting enough, I dont feel anything for the FL apart from pity. She hasnt done anything to make me dislike her, but nothing to make me like her either. I'll keep reading this though, since maybe it'll feel less dreary than reading about

sam1803 she cant help it, why would she like him after he continuously breaks her heart and she knows that he will continue to do so? she wants her sister and him to be happy because she knows hes never going to love her and she doesnt want to hurt her sister basically, she wants to leave. she doesnt even know why she continues to like him. dont forget that this is fiction, something deeper could be happening behind the scenes, but im not sure as i havent finished the novel.

Not sure how I like the direction where web novel went. If that was a happy ending, it was too easy and unearned. If things are actually still continuing, then it has the crime of doing a large, multi chapter flashback with a completely unrelated character's history. Huge waste of pathos.

Its revealed that her love interest is being controlled by some godlike force and, despite the fact that he actually loves her and appreciates her, he is forced to say and do the super cold things against his will. He doesn't actually love mc's love rival: When she shows up, it's revealed that he's actually constantly thinking about Ilya and he suffers because he can't control his actions. Combined with how terrible life always ends up for him after mc dies (and before we always felt good about this), it generates amazing pathos for both mc and her previously thought to be unobtainable guy. If you're like me, you think this is great, super interesting, a massive bombshell, and want to see mc get rewarded for her efforts by somehow defeating this force and winning the guy who has always loved her, right?

Jokes on you! Almost immedistely after this is revealed, the story takes a break to focuse on runner up love interest's who was previously a demon Candidate based on the heartless things he would say. The author will try and retcon his aloof heartlessness via flashbacks: "Nooooo reader, you had it all wrong! He was the most caring guy ever and his comments were misunderetood!" Fine, basically the same thing was done with Ilya's love interest when its revealed he's being controlled, right? Well, they dont do this via one chapter. Worst of all, the author decides to focus on this dweeb by spending multiple(felt like at lesst ten) chapters flashbacking about his pointless [life in the age of magic. Turns out this guy already had a love life before wanting to reward our mc with his "affeftion" (author even says its basically pure pity) and was already fulfilled before he became immortal. Our mc is essentially the 2nd wife if that is indeed the ending.

The cool bit about her love interest being controlled? Completely forgotten even though you can start to see bits and pieces of him struggling to fight the control break through his personality even at the end.

So if thats the ending, its unearned and drops a great plot point in favor of ending the story quickly.

It reminds me of "This Time I Will Definitely Be Happy!" which I hated for the exact same reason that there's a higher force at play that punishes the MC/ML for no reason other than because plot/author sucks.

Not sure if I can read it after this. Will probably wait for the ending as I did with that manga I mentioned. That's such a waste of a good idea tbh.

Okay I spent several hours reading up to around Ch. 30 and there’s only 50 or so chapters...

So what everyone is saying about her dying over and over again is completely true... she fucking dies over and over again and you have to relive every single, painful fucking way she dies. Also, the writing is sorta painful to read (6/10 on clarity) not as bad as some other writing, but it’s not the kind of writing you can skim through and get the gist. So up to Ch. 30ish or so she literally keeps on dying and no matter what she does she can’t escape her depressing fate. I think what hurts the most is the fact that no matter how many times she dies she still fucking likes the ML. Also, her parents treatment of her kicks her while she’s down. Like damn. I really wanted to finish this to find a good ending, but I’m gonna have to drop it. She doesn’t end up with Al the knight guy either cause he’s got a fiancée. And also there’s this weird guy named Crow that I don’t fucking understand his role and this whole thing feels like I’m in a fever dream full of suicidal ideations. It’s gonna be a no from me dawg.

I read the novel, and honestly I don’t recommend this for anyone. The best ending would have been that she ended up with no one and found happiness on her own and escaped her fate, but the author decided to make her end up with some weirdo who played little to no role in the actual main plot line. It’s very frustrating.

@riyakhn I dont see the appeal of such an ending, but to each their own; I like to see love get rewarded in more concrete ways, but we can both agree that the resolution here just sucks. I'm still holding out hope that the novel isn't actually over and we'll see those plot threads resolved.
