..I'm seriously confused about this concubine business. Earlier it was stated the Emperor doesn't take multiple women (reason not important right now). But if that's the case why is she a concubine? She should just be his wife. Does royalty get around the harem restriction by only having one woman at a time, rather than all at once? So the concubine status is basically what happens when the royal isn't sure he likes you and he may throw you away later, to be replaced with someone else? *scratches head*

I as well have a hard time understanding the concubine tradition... And it changes slightly per manga/manhwa/manhua you read.

Best thing tondo is to not think too much about it and just focus on other parts of the story.
