You might have been miss it but in this version of manga he also give the ghost girl a gift on christmas.. (Chapter 4 page 6) So he still nice to the ghost girl.. It just that too many things get cut in this manga so he looks very bad.. And the esper girl more harsh to him in this manga so that kinda balance it out..
