how does a guy killing himself and going to hell because of that breaks any contract between god and Satan? Because he went there with holy stuff? Because he left after entering even after death? But the demons allowed him to go back, how does that breaks any sort of contract that bounded Lucifer?

@Ozzykun Kinda forgot about this series for awhile, so I'm just catching up, but I'd wager your first guess is correct (though you probably already know the answer). Most fiction featuring heaven and hell as literal forces generally have them bound by some kind of pact of non-interference; neither interferes with the other while also not directly interfering with Earth. So bringing holy artifacts into hell would have counted as a violation of that pact. It could also be the intent, since heaven and hell are big on those kinds of things. He intended to bring holy weapons to hell for the explicit purpose of defeating demons.

The bigger question, though, is why Shinto artifacts would break a covenant between two Christian forces.

Because Christianity itself isn't a concept that just arose out of the ether one day but was based on various Semitic customs and traditions that spread through Europe which themselves would inspire new customs and traditions. Basic Syncretism. It's not a stretch to say that this version of heaven and hell is an extension of most dualistic religions and so a holy weapon used to kill demons in one culture would help to kill demons in another, as it's the extension of the forces of "good" fighting the forces of "evil." @Vincentius
