"Since I was debating pulling the chapters off due to plenty of other reasons, such as the good ol' inactivity rule, or their stance on donations vs. ads... or even the fact that anybody is allowed to create an account and upload the chapter without any verification which is being abused to snipe purely to start drama. I decided to pull the chapters off and simply not deal with unnecessary shit. I shouldn't bring up the Solo Leveling or Returners snipe, but those are prime examples of what I'm talking about. I'm personally not against sniping whatsoever, but that doesn't mean I'll willingly offer the full library of work, legal or otherwise so that somebody can fuck me over it for the sake of trolling. I'm not going to go into the whole Mangadex is toxic af, I don't think there is any scanlator who is not aware of this and who are we to talk, but, they don't seem to be complaining that the toxic readers are derailing the conversation and harassing the scanlators. Just take a look at Jaiminis Box group page because they decided to delay.

I'll end my rant here. If things change in the future, I'll gladly back Mangadex up again."

@HammerU89 I could've sworn they dropped Solo Leveling (and a few others as well) because they got hit with a C&D (or am I thinking of some other group/manga?). In any case way to throw a bitch fit Meraki, now the people you're complaining about have a LOT more motivation to hatemail spam your inbox. And seriously, citing MD's stance on donations vs ads as a reason to pull chapters? The fuck is this guy huffing?

Edit: Yep that was them alright. After visiting their Discord, the same idiot complaining about Solo and Returners being sniped is the one that announced they were dropping them for legal reasons.

@reykun and everyone else. This is what happened to the English translation alongside the rest of Meraki Scans stuff. Pretty much a mess up on Mangadex's part for letting this go on and reach a boiling point really. A shame too.

Sniping is when someone posts a manga chapter of something someone else is already translating. Say a group translated 200 chapters of something then suddenly some random dude releases 201 for no reason. That's fine but typically this is done with ill intentions and will obviously frustrated the group translating the thing because its just generally seen as an insult. It's fine to translate stuff alongside a group or release chapters if the group dropped it or passed it to someone due to C&D. But that's not snipping anymore.

My Statement :
- inactivity rule, Same I still dont understand, Maybe they refer MD Rule 2.4,
- donations vs. ads, Maybe they think MD staff embezzled donation money (sorry no offense here)
- Snipping case, I think it was not entirelly MD-staff fault here. Some people are jackass, they use a gap on MD privilege to messed up with Some group,

@blablablah I think the main starting point was that Merakiscans wanted to complain about Hatigarmscans being targeted through provocative notions in the credit pages, however Mangadex was censoring their complaints since it was not part of the chapter's discussion (basically they don't want arguments in the comment section). Mangadex aims to be a neutral platform that doesn't take sides during drama and wants to keep things neutral. Yet they allow the provocative credit pages (the source of the drama) to exist and tries to censor Merakiscans. This is hypocrisy because Mangadex claims to stop all arguments, except a loophole in their rules enables favoritism for the provoker and oppresses the respondents.

A hypothetical situation that illustrates this is like: you are constantly being DDOSed because a group is abusing the government's assets but all complaints and media about the incident are censored by the government. In the same way, Mangadex holds power in the scanlating world similar to that government (of the hypothetical world) and the provokers are utilizing Mangadex's loophole just like that group utilizing that government's assets.

I'm thinking if Merakiscans faced other points they listed without the incident stated above, it is probable that the event would not blow up this big. But it is probably this incident of provocation and censorship that tipped the bucket.
