ML(since you're comparing to him) already has enough money n house from the start, all his ventures are successful that he can live without a job and he's smart as hell. He doesn't have any relatives to maintain relationships with and everyone in the neighborhood likes him. Finally for FL , he skipped meeting her, getting to know her, getting her interested in him(it was forced by circumstances) and literally has no competition. She aalso ddoesn't have family and friends to approve him.
You won't get a situation like this ever in real life.

To be honest i wouldn't even want a situation like that. Whilst he is cream of the crop she on the other hand is not.
She literally beats him up, acts prudish whilst many other things are the same as modern chinese woman. Her ignorance towards sex is overly convenient despite having internet which always tells about contraceptives. Not to mention girls do speak about intimacy and sex and somehow her friend didn't raise any conversations.
She has a modern understanding that marriage certificate is more important than the ceremony but despite that, specifically that outdated tradition is prevalent.

Last but not least as MMC's father thought, if he were to buy a house before marrying her he would be legally safe but he made a critical decision that doesn't favor him one bit.
She has her charms but objectively speaking, she also has a lot of negative trait points and in order to get intimacy(sex) from her, he needs to do monumental tasks.
If she were 100% loyal and would stick to him to death does them apart it would be somehow justifiable, but we literally have cases when guys take out girls from "traditional" villages, after 5-10 years those girls become the same as city girls. And FMC here has become a violent version of a city girl just in one year.

In many regards I like this manhua(or manwha), it raises a lot of serious points that we as readers might have (especially older folks who know something about marriage and laws regarding them) interest in or concerns about.
But being beaten up and forced to jack off in the shower isn't very appealing to any guy who has OPTIONS.
Any relationship has to have equilibrium if not, eventually they fall apart. That couple doesn't have equilibrium, roughly speaking he contributes a lot more while receives minimum if any respect, that's not relationship that's masochism.
