Rui is fine. There's kind of a double effect to her not liking Yuusuke. First of all it's a joke on how direct she is about it which is something most Japanese people are never that direct. That subverts expectations of your typical romcom protagonist where the girls are way more likely to swoon over him than not. Yuusuke is made to be unlikeable as a joke in this. The other effect is the opposite. It's a plot driving effect. She's the oneechan of the series with a brother complex. So for readers who like the oneechan sister complex she fits the fantasy mold for that. Yuusuke being Yuusuke just likes her for her watermelons and could easily replace her for her idol sister. At the end of the day after these recent developments this is a romcom about a brother and his overprotective imouto so even though things are getting more complex that's the core.
