I don't think the author ever figured out how to write the protagonist. His personality swings widly based on whatever is required by the plot, which ended up making him come off as bipolar at best and completely derranged at worst.

It doesn't help that this romantic development has been very rushed.

I think the translation at the very start of the chapter is wrong. I think it should be "I like her". "She liked me. I just realised it." makes no sense for Maezono, because she confessed already, and doesn't make sense to be talking about Asahi, because later in the chapter he's saying he doesn't know how Asahi feels about him. Also, following on from the last chapter, he's just realised his feelings for Asahi. So I think it's him talking about realising his own feelings.

Also page 8, second panel, I think it should be "who you were in love with" and not "who were you in love with".
