He has some sort of scheme in the background and doesn't want to attract attention yet he keeps planning to stay friends with people that have put him in the center. Not only that but it seems that tanned girl keeps pushing shit on him because she can't or won't deal with it all herself. I personally don't like the whole forced conflict trope along with the "they're the first people i met so they're now my friends and i won't abandon them" thing he has going on.
