For anyone else, the best point against these tags except for the Bara tag is that differentiating content written for or fairly depicting LGBT people would be almost impossible.

Haven't multiple users already mentioned using the Demographic tags to find what you're looking for?

Sure, I guess you could say it's unfortunate that the vast majority of yaoi is written targeted towards women, but I guess that's just a product of what sells.

And directing you to a different site is pretty fair imo. MD isn't the place, nor will it (hopefully) ever be the place, for the kind of tag system you're looking for.

Fortunately the staff doesn't agree with the reasoning used in the original post. As it stands, I'd rather get the Shanghai Shivers than see this suggestion go through.

Wow. I woke up to read some manga and thought to scroll down to see what was popping on the forums.

Well OP refuses to let it rest even after not being here to defend their own post and only after rejection bothering to check.

@ShadowofOblivion I'm sorry to say but it's not gonna happen just because you feel it should because not only is your argument weak, you did not convince anyone and your asking others to defend their stances when you should be convincing them of yours. And no simply pointing out that it's not here so it should be is not a valid argument.

@Nutz

I never said it needed to happen just because I feel it does.
My argument is not weak you refuse to try to see it from my point of view.
I did actually have conversations with those willing and so did others.
Saying that I shouldnt request something because another site has it is not a valid argument mines actually valid.

The f do you want ?

This isn't library to save a bookmark or someshit, this is a place to read.

Go to Baka-Updates and help their community, rather than barging this up in here.

I think the bigger issue is that there isn't *a lot* of same-sex romance written for an audience of that sex. We gotta consider where this stuff is coming from. Creating more tags for like...what? 10 manga? Seems kinda pointless and a lot of work for devs; especially if it might not be utilized by that many people. But I don't like being catered to, so that's just my opinion.

I already know I'm digging through a dumpster if I'm trying to find queer animanga that isn't just fanservice for the Hets or isn't super ~*~problematic~*~. I think part of the fun is finding something good in the heaps of garbage. And surrendering to the crap to have a good time anyway.

I know it's bean beaten down already so in the spirit of being helpful, I say you check out some blogs. There are probably some tumblr users who have rec lists that suit your needs.

Anyway I cannot argue with anyone who refuses to look at this from a perspective not their own.

Yaoi is a genre for women to fetishize men thats all. It is not a genre for men to read.

@pandascepter A tag? thats pretty clear. Obviously this is a place to read though I see no reason why you are against adding the tag?

With this, it's a proof that, you just killed yourself by something you just post.

@ShadowofOblivion requesting something is part and due inherently because you feel the need that it should be there. Whether it's a need or a want a desire is a prerequisite for any request. You don't ask for something on a whim and even then a whim is desire.

Your argument is weak. As it is completely on the basis that Mangadex does not cater to your specific need when it does somewhat cater to it. Just not as detailed nor specific as you would like it to.

Yes, you did have conversations but you disappeared shortly after and let the thread be carried by others who agree with you instead of continual engagement with everyone. You can't filter those you engage with based on who you feel is deserving. Outside of actual trolls you should be trying to engage with anyone who takes it seriously.

I never said you shouldn't request something. I simply pointed out that when you do request something it is your responsibility to convince people as to why your request matters and is needed.
People can live without everything that they want.

My god. This has to be bait, right? But, well, I guess some people do think like this, so it's believable (sadly).

I and many others attempt to put ourselves in the shoes of those who hold opposing viewpoints and/or viewpoints we don't understand. The statement I quoted above really sums up how imprudently you've processed this entire thread.

As Nutz (and others) have said time and time again, your personal feelings are not enough to push your argument to the point that it gains traction, at least not in an environment where people who can think for themselves gather.

Your argument can basically be chalked up as "yaoi is mainly made for women, so we should add niche tags for yaoi that is made for men", when the Demographic tags exist on this site already, and there are various other sites with complex tag systems you can visit to satisfy your niche cravings (which aren't negative, per say, but advocating for an entire site to accommodate them, as I stated in my first post in this thread, is unreasonable, self-centered, and short-sighted).

@crescentfreshh It's probably not as much work for the devs as you think. They whipped up the Villainess tag in just a couple days, probably less. Group leaders are the ones who add the tags to a series. I find it a bit hard to believe that a genre that's been around since the 60's doesn't have a lot of manga.

@pandascepter 😊.

@bigtiddyoneesan I am glad that other autonomous beings are aware that these usernames are actual people. And that Mangadex also has a bunch of slaves working their asses off for quality releases and the maintenance of an awesome website. God knows I can't afford a proper manga sites subscription fees nor regular purchasing of manga online/offline.

Yeah. People's actions pretty much always have some sort of reasoning to them, no matter how faulty said reasoning may seem to others. Attempting to understand that reasoning is helpful.

People that arbitrarily use "my feelings" as an excuse, however, are usually just trying to take advantage of others' empathy.

True.

(Unfortunately) true.

I don't see how a lbgt/yaoi/yuri tag is gonna help.

I once read this shoujo romance manga about this guy who cross-dresses cuz the girl he has a crush on is androphobic whilst the guy's closet gay best friend pretends that he doesn't realize that the crossdresser he's hitting on is his guy friend. I really like how the author conveyed the characters' feelings when the mini-confessions scenes that happen at the end of each arc. It left a bitter tear in my eye when the crossdresser finally revealed his secret to his best friend. I wouldn't want someone doing dirty to this manga that I don't even remember the name of by giving it a tag that gives people unfamiliar to the lgbt community an implication that it's about two guys doing the dirty.

There are probably better ways to recommend lgbt-supportive manga. Slapping down a random word isn't going to accomplish much.
