So OP, since you've now said yourself that the tags you wish to be added would require substantially more of those specific manga to be hosted on this site, do you still support the adding of those tags?

Genuinely asking here, not flaming or anything.

What you're describing sounds like a combination of demographic + shoujo/shonen ai tags, which is already available in the search.

To be fair I completely forgot that Shonen ai is not Shota which is why I currently avoid the Shounen ai tag like the plague.

Under the new system, "yaoi" will be boys love + josei, "bara" will be boys love + seinen, and you'll have a sliding scale of explicit content to go along with it. There's no point adding additional tags on top of that, and this is more userfriendly than having people constantly argue over whether something is yaoi or bara because apparently no-one actually knows the difference.

This would so totally work my only issue I see is people not labeling things seinen properly but good point.

@BestBoy "Anything that has seme/uke is not bara"
I would like to inform you that because it is not the norm where you live, doesn't mean Japanese LGBT are not using it.

Also bara is considered slur in Japanese.

...and I've concluded that for me to be able to convince that there should be a tag I will need a large amount manga that fits the criteria at least a hundred. I also need to refine the suggestion i am making since it was too vague and I had to converse on more aspects than I could handle at once.
It's fine for a tag suggestion to be vague, what you really need is a horde of like-minded individuals to brigade it.
I wish I was joking.

@Sunnyhybrid Masculine seme (top/giving) and feminine uke(bottom/receiving) were used in yaoi as an attempt to recreate heterosexual power dynamics in a homosexual relationship. Gei-komi does not try to recreate those dynamics, opting in favor of portraying both characters in the relationship as masculine. This isn't something I'm saying from personal anecdotes, but from reading about this topic.

No where did I say Japanese LGBT do not recreate those dynamics in their own relationships. Please do not put words in my mouth.

I'm aware some in Japan find it offensive. If you want me to go back and edit them to gei-komi I will.

@BestBoy Sorry, I might be getting too heated. But as an LGBT living in Japan this thread sounds HORRIBLY like some Westerners trying to push their views on Japanese media and it doesn't sit well at all with me.

@Sunnyhybrid Probably just reading too much into it. It basically boils down to wanting an easier way to find gei-komi than wading through 4000 titles individually. Like trying to find a metal needle in a stack of ceramic needles and asking for a strong magnet to make it easy.

@sterven I think that one worked out only because Plykiya was there from the beginning.
All we have now is a mod larping as a meme ostrich. Times have changed... 😔

Oh I do think that LGBT could definitely be a Theme though. Might argue towards that in the future. But I honestly don't mind the tag combos the mod mentioned for finding things though it does make it more work.

@ShadowofOblivion Oh, that's strange. I didn't see any chapters in English, at least. I'll ask a mod about it eventually.

This is the title for anyone curious https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=136813

How would that be necessary? If yuri and yaoi (and possibly other future) tags already exist, then wouldn't it just be a blanket theme for those tags?

@bigtiddyoneesan please reference where I've repeatedly stated that at the very least YAOI is not representative of all malexmale content. It specifically refers to content that is targeted to women and largely made by women. I've stated this numerous times. And it isn't an umbrella term yaoi is actually a sub genre...

I hate to have to reference wikipedia but this is a well written article. Please read it.

Also neither tag work for trans material at all.

Yeah, but it's still LGBT, so it would be under the blanket theme. As would any other potential tags, like gei-komi.

You're misunderstanding my point here. I know what yaoi is. If you were to have a tag separate from yaoi, that was about male x male for a male demographic, that would still be LGBT, thus it would also be under the LGBT blanket theme.

Basically, an LGBT theme wouldn't help you find any of those sub-tags, it would just be a blanket theme consisting of those tags.

You mean 'genderswap'?
