This chapter gave us some insight on Neeko. It was shown previously that she picks up things easily but this confirms that she might be extremely capable if she isn't pushed around too much. Neeko is also lucky to have a friend that is willing to help her through her issues as well, even if she herself isn't aware of it.

Thanks for the chapter!

Man, I really want to see Neeko get her confidence back... Kind of like how Tomoko in Watamote managed to pull herself together. It'd be nice.

Then again I don't know how much the author likes suffering for the character...

@Cyreader it isn't that hard when depression kills your appetite. she also watches her weight as it was shown a couple chapters ago so I'm sure she diets.

@Cyreader This could be a bit of a stretch but there's also the consideration that she could just have a fast metabolism. I know some people who can eat a lot without really gaining any weight. But as knecht said, it's probably is just dieting. Even being a NEET, she's probably still self-conscious about her body.

@Nolonar @knecht @Virtyuu

Yeah I guess from a perspective that's true in a sense, but for a comic representing the realities of being a NEET with depression that body just doesn't mesh. Like she's not anorexic so it's not skipping meals and her family makes sure she's well fed and she lacks a lot of exercise in the whole not wanting to go out.

Fast metabolism works I guess since she is under 25ish which is when most people lose it.

@Cyreader Before serialization, it was shown that Neeko did get chubby sometimes if she slacks off and eats snacks. I’m pretty sure she eats healthy otherwise. Also: depression. After I got rejected from the military for medical reasons, I don’t think I ate for days at a time.

Always good at everything, but her confidence crashed and burned when she failed? I can see it.

@Cyreader I'm about 33 and I've not found a job in the last 2 years or so. Still, I eat healthily and not to the point I'm full, and I'm somewhat of a gamer, though I still did voluntary work to get experience for a future job (which has been canceled since the virus struck). I don't even exercise much, and I'd say my weight is relatively stable. I suppose it depends what you eat, as always. I also drink a lot of water.

(Oh, and I had acquired a contract for a temporary job before the pandemic fell upon us, but it's currently being pushed back. :( )

@Cyreader Some people are just lucky like that. I've been borderline hyperthyroid my entire life. My metabolism is fast enough that I stay thin no matter how much I eat, but not so fast that I look like a skeleton and need medication.
