Jeeezus, those truth officers are utter psychopaths. Trying to wipe out the individuality of children and turn them into tools? No wonder their civilization is so effed up.
"I want to become the kind of truth officer who uses her title to do the right thing! Just like you, master!" So, uh... she's gonna kidnap children and cut off their family ties and brainwash them too? That kind of "right thing?"
I don't know if the author thinks a system with a single point of failure is a good thing, or if they just weren't even thinking about it at all. But the way they've set up the truth officers, it's gotta be one of the most easily corruptible systems of law enforcement imaginable. They've got no accountability, no way to independently verify, all they need is one person to agree with them, and they're not even allowed to use their powers on each other.
