You know, I appreciate that, for once, we can get an antagonistic noble that isn't just a jerkass.

Sure, he was arrogant, entitled and full of himself, but his skills weren't a mere boast, he was a graceful loser and his values, while contrary to what Masaru supports, have an aristocratic logic to them. I hope we can see him again as an ally in the future.

This is completely different from how the novels were. There was no Japanese robot anime reference. and he absolutely floored his opponent's golems with his opponent trying to attack him in person with a dishonorable attack. Them leaving the ring on good terms did not happen. Opponent acted as the typical sore loser and would come up again in another arc to cause trouble. So the manga deviated from the original work by quite a lot in this case. it doesn't affect the story much and it is more entertaining than the original light novel. however, keep in mind the anime might choose to do either this scene or the novel's depending on what they might find more entertaining.

Notice that the punch in page 12 is the same that Masaru used to knock Narnia. On page 15 he lured the golem by pretending weakness like he did in the fight against the harpy queen.

I read on niconico that this chapter has a shitload of mecha anime references including gundam, evangelion and TTGL but I can't confirm any since I didn't paid much attention to those. I noticed the jojo though.

I was so anxious about this chapter since its so different from the novel I was afraid the mangaka was gonna write his own arc again. I am so glad that didn't happen and this fight was awesome.

Next chapter be delicious with Tilika (hopefully)
