Well we already could tell they were no good based on how they were drawn. Dad looks like a grifter and mom looks like she has ice in her veins and a nasty personality.

Worse as they aren't here for "him" (They don't know he's rich!)
Parents ready to SELL her to the Yakuza they owe money to, namely the classic "since your parents owe us a debt, it now falls on you!" Luck for her "Sensei" is there!
Wouldn't it be hilarious if the Yakuza actually know about her master, and end up being old fanboys?

So now we finally see Karen's parents, and I'm reminded of my comment from back in chapter 4:
The MC's relationship with money continues to baffle me, but since it's been brought up again I gotta ask - what the hell is up with this girl's parents?

They took absolutely everything from her place, went to the landlord to have her kicked out, and went to the school to have her withdrawn - assumedly all within a single day. I have to assume the reveal will be that they're very powerful (either literally or metaphorically) because how did they manage to do all that so quickly and with nobody asking any questions?

Obviously there's also a question of "why would they do that?" for the parents, but I'd apply that to the landlord and the school as well - why would the landlord just kick a tenant out even when the rent for the month or whatever was likely already paid? Why would a school just drop the kid without any further procedure, especially when the kid shows up the next morning going "I have no idea why they did that, I definitely should still be here"? Did the parents threaten the landlord and school into doing what they want, or are they also inexplicably evil/stupid?

Between the adventurer's guild and the school it seems like all the institutions in this world will just roll over and do anything anyone tells them to do without any sort of checks or other procedures.

Based on the fact that they look ragged and homeless I can assume "crime" or "money" (or both) is the answer for "why would they do that", but that just makes everything else more confusing. These parents don't appear to be powerful (literally, socially or financially) so it seems that yeah the landlord and school simply rolled over without a second thought.

Were the parents always like this and Karen was just so oblivious she didn't notice? Or were they completely normal until only a short while ago where they suddenly got into all these nefarious acts? Considering how positive of an opinion Karen has about her parents I'd assume the latter, but everything is written so poorly in this manga that it's genuinely hard to tell.

i tried to machine translate it myself yesterday (just out of curiosity) and for whatever reason, it spout out that the parents were wondering If an arsonist lived in the building lol

Karen seemed so happy with her parents in the picture but something tells me if I go back to read the first few chapters again I’ll remember whatever horrible thing they did that got her to run away in the first place.
That was a nice date though.
