That guy is going to be a case of "exiled from the party for being Useless" type. Basically he joined up in an early group with a girl he liked, but the other two guys wanted to be alone with the two girls in the group so they pushed him out under "you're too weak" excuse! Not only does it lead to him meeting Reito who helps with his training but IMMEDIATLY the girl he liked left the party to join him! Asshat tried to lie and claim he left on his own and his perceived weakness and the girl called that shit out, including the fact he left without a word. Asshat THOUGHT he was being SNEAKY, but she realized real quickly that the guy was just interested in "trying to get with her without focusing MAJORLY on the why they formed the group in the first place! Forming up with the "Reito's Disciple" as it's partnering with someone who is ALSO serious in UNDERSTANDING the workings of being an adventurer and getting better at it! Romance between them is build up IN THE MEANTIME! Meaning Asshat failed his main goal before ! She even SAID because of his lying and deception, it makes him even LESS viable as a "companion" cause what ELSE will he do behind members backs because he thinks he's sneak and smarter then he actually is. Hence a MAJOR Legit reason for leaving beyond just doing so for the New Guy who she liked when they first met BECAUSE he was taking things SERIOUS even then. Yeah he had a crush on her, but he focused on the main reason they formed the party in the first place!

Another thing that happens in that arc is the Asshat I mentioned ended up getting scammed! He joined a class meant to train Adventurers by "Zero" but turns out it's just some POS Mid-Level Adventurers POSING as Zero because Reito staying anonymous has a backfire since they only used his title cause they ASSUMED since no one KNEW who Zero was, "why not for their scam" in which their giving SHOODY advice and using the "Students they hooked" to go diving into the dungeon and stealing much of their "Spoils" for themselves! Reito does put a stop to it and THIS is what I mean by his consideration about coming out of Retirement! The problems in the system, both FROM Adventurers like these scammers, and from the Guild itself as in his situation does get him to see that "He should really DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT"

Plus Karens not gone, we do see her MUCH in the separation, the writer making CLEAR she's as much a Main Character as Reito is. Plus we STILL haven't seen the ENTIRITY of his Bitch Ex and her new Man's fall yet. It's going to be FUCKING BEAUTIFUL

As well as her REDEEMING herself after the fall becoming a better person, something even I didn't see coming, but enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed that Receptionist redeeming herself as well! Take Note the ASSHOLE who stole Ex does NOT Redeem himself, hell he gets WORSE especially when what kickstarts Ex/Kaori's redeemption is largely when he does to her EXACTLY what she did to Reito, and he SPITS on Reito's "Kindness" which finally ruins him, as the big shot he pisses off with his "sleeping around with other people's woman" ISN'T as Kind as Reito was! Where the fool was transferred WAS the guild respecting Reito's "Mercy" giving the fool a CHANCE to fix his fuck up and rise again.....or fuck up FURTHER, learn NOTHING as you think after finding out you STOLE a Big Shot's woman and PAID FOR IT that you'd be Smart about things and NOT try to steal another man's woman....he goes an ignorantly CHEATS with the New Branch's FUCKING WIFE, who actually was PLAYING HIM because she's a Red Flag who LIKES toying with fools like him....then leave her husband hte Branch GUILDMASTER to "deal with them" afterwards. Which happens to him and his life is now 100% unsalvagable! And the POS STILL blames Kaori and more importantly REITO for HIS bad choices!

I would be okay with it but I just like when characters are technically OP but they also have one massive weakness that stop them from being straight-up invincible... something Mangas usually use quite well, honestly.

Firstly, it is rather pedestrian, and I am not picking up the slightest hint of romance from either of them. Firstly, how big is the age gap? Secondly, Harem... Thirdly, I can't be waiting 100 years to see if there is ever any progress with any romance, and some of the spoilers here make it appear that it will be like every other harem, and there will not be any progress until the very last chapter before it ends.
The rest of it is just not good enough to make it worthwhile.

being a bit nitpicky here but that's not what the spoilers were saying. Rather, they spent probably more effort then they should have trying to make it clear it's not.
