Some totally calm words from the TL:

p1 b4 YOU DON'T FUCKING SAY? WHY DIDN'T YOU BRING IT UP EARLIER? YOU COULD HAVE MAYBE PREVENTED AT LEAST ONE OF THOSE FROM BEING AN ISSUE. This truly feels like an after-the-fact attempt to patch all the obvious issues the previous chapter introduced. By mentioning them and then entirely glossing them over and fixing something completely unrelated.

p4 b1 The main reason for that, though, is that none of them have been introduced as characters yet. Like how planning was before suddenly three of them coming along and being shown as characters. Or background, effects, and animation still are.

p7 b1 I mean, it kind of is in a way, given the explanation. "Because you understand me best!" is pretty much just special treatment for being really close.

p8 b7 though not last time. Even though it DOES become an issue.

@chris_dftba yeah her characters were amazing and Hajime even says "you did it just as I wanted" So not winning was just dumb..................UNLESS it was all just to make her the art director eventually, which is poor execution but now I can feel "oh, so that's what it is... naruhodo".

@ixlone you think is special treatment in the sense that a newcomer wouldn't have a chance to get that position and Yun gets it because they know each other very well, but good communication is a skill, she's not good only with Hajime, she is in good terms with everyone in the art team and has better chances than Hifumi at talking, I think that was a great decision ... At least for Hajime who so far has been doing an awful job, I hope Yun can become for Hajime what Christina is for Hazuki. This could've gone terrible wrong, the worries of Christina came late, but at least they came before the real work starts.

I'm glad Hazuki is getting some karma throw at her.

PS: I was missing Aoba too much

Is this a character Arch for Yun? Pls don't tell me it is, I'm getting Aoba and Ko flashback here. Also, a bit off-topic, if you're working in a professional environment where nobody knows each other in person, DON'T DO THIS, EVER. This 'I trust you cus U friend' only works because they're in a small dev team and they know each other in person. Favoritism in any professional work environment has to be eliminated, it's bad for your team, doesn't matter who you deem favorite.

On the other note, they're finally addressing the big hedgehog in the room that it is Hifumi communication skill. Or rather the lack of. Communication is literally the most important skill in a team . It doesn't matter how good you are at something, if you can't communicate well enough with your team you'll always be the weakest link in the chain.

p4 b8 Hifumi comes back after a long time and she's suddenly the most relatable character of all of them, I've thought the exact same thing multiple times.

It sure as hell does feel like pity and special treatment no matter how you spin it...
This really feels like maximum damage control from the author. Still, too little, too late. It kinda even feels it would have been better had he kept playing it straight than acknowledging it now. If he could do it one chapter after the fact... Why didn't he do it from the get-go and make everything actually make sense rather than this?

Well, now it's absolutely obvious how messed up this arc is... This is literally a bunch of characters being thrown in some random plotline at random positions where all of them are completely out of place. Hifumi and Ahagon are the most sane characters here right now, watching this mess from the sides and wondering why did they deserve this. Thankfully, at least Hifumi is being placed in her usual spot, even if this decision made by Hajime as it is, just reeks of incompetence and favoritism. It was almost rude, even if Hifumi desperately wanted this herself.

Just give me more of Hifumi... I sympathize with her so much right now...

P.S. Oh, and happy birthday to the most useless company president. Though, Shizuku is cute in her own way. :3

So Yun get the pity treatment huh? Man, this sure is a clusterfuck of a mess. At this point, i will not be surprised if the game itself would turn out "mediocre" or even a fail.

Well, this time it got better than the character competition because she's fixing some of the mistakes, but I have to agree with @SilverChaika, this arc feels messed up.

I understand there isn't much to be done after the characters go through their respective arcs and grow up, so you throw in more characters to change the dynamic and give a new life to the story, but instead of progressing naturally, like having Aoba be the one teaching a newbie the same way Yagami taught her, the new girl is in the exact same position as her, even upstaging her in the char design for some bullshit reason. Heck, this could have been the story about Yun showing Aoba that, despite her having defeated Yagami in the previous game, that only meant she had a better idea, not that she had reached the same level as her superiors, and that in a segment of the industry where the subjective is as valuable as the objective, anyone can upstage you for having a more interesting concept than you can come up with at any time!

Instead, we got Aoba repeating Yagami's arc without any of the substance, Yun being upstaged in the same manner despite having a better design and clearer vision of what the director wanted, and the focus being put entirely on the director not knowing what to do in a really inorganic manner for the character.

This arc feels forced! New Game was so good up until the PECO arc, but after the two new girls got into the mix, the overall quality started dropping. This arc feels too forced when compared to the first half of the series!

Well, not sure about the latest chapter in raw (but I did take a quick look at the whole vol 8 raw) but this arc is probably warping up already.... so there's that XP (unless there's a hiatus I didn't know about or maybe it got axed?) We can look forward to whatever comes next I guess?

I was mad like all of you guys, I'm just trying to leave the anger behind and at least recognize that they're trying to fix it, as for the favoritism part, well think about it, it was either Yun or Aoba, and Yun has more experience.

Hifumi sure wasn't sweating getting sorta demoted all that much, I guess she really is more confortable in a more low key role. I can't help but feel that Aoba is getting a raw deal in this whole thing though, she's always so hard working yet she's totally getting pushed to the side .

I think it's what you get for dragging a manga for too long. Ending the manga after Peco and Kou going to France will have been good but the author have decided to continue and here we go, we repeat the same thing they've done in Peco and this chapter try to cover errors that should have occured, mostly giving the character design to someone WHO'S NOT EVEN AN EMPLOYEE. Giving Yun the A.D position feel like a compassion becase she got robbed for absolutely no reason beside the fact she's not really a M.C .As for Kou, from what i've read in the comment of last chapter, it's not gonna be funny for her either (I will just c/c mogu spoiler)
Where Hotaru suddenly decides she wants to join the game industry, too, and ends up joining the same company as Yagami (and even living in the same room) completely by accident, not even knowing who Yagami is. And then, despite having no work experience or even knowing how to use the company's software ends up in charge of a major part of the company's project, gets no training, and entirely through self-study manages to impress not only the veterans at the company but also to rival Yagami, the one who was recognized as having a genius-level of skill when she first started working and now has years of work experience on top of that.

This writer... As if a single woman in a low wage industry would just agree to a pay-cut and even welcome it without challenging that decision, just because she doesn't like dealing with people.
Sure thing.
