I mean this is different from the other tragedy stories similar to this when the mc knows the person is gonna die because he went back in time 6 months but for what? I mean she’s gonna end up dying anyway and they were really close the first time around so what’s gonna change? what is the purpose of this time leap?

@waffles yeah this all honestly feels like a setup for him to do it differently, realize she loved him too, and then she just fucking dies again. Any "good" ending would feel like it was cheating the premise

I mean now he knows, he could’ve gone it differently but by doing the “plastic memories route”
He knows she has little time left and he loves her, if only he knew that she loves him back soon then they could’ve gone out together sooner and have a bitter sweet end

MC’s either gotta watch her die again, or push her into forfeiting her time with them so she can get her life-saving surgery.

@kebin
Sounds like a fun idea. Maybe some god decided to settle her last regrets?

Getting the feeling this will turn into Groundhog Day. Just endlessly repeating her last 6 months.

Chapter 1, page 31? The only real thing the MC can do is convince her to get the life-extending treatment that will probably leave her in hospital beds more often than school.

Although, it doesn’t seem like whatever’s ailing her can be perfectly treated. In the next page, I can’t tell if she means she was predicted to live until high school graduation, or IF she got the treatment, she’d live until graduation, at most...

I’m hoping former, so something can be different, but if latter, what? He goes Clannad on her and she dies after leaving behind a kid, and he becomes a single father out of high school? Or worse, nothing changes other than a few mere sentiments on her deathbed?

@Bladestone By this point, she already knows. The moment she returns to school is after the heart transplant and the discovering of her new 'condition' (refer to flashback on chapter 1 when she asks to be able to return to school). Also, her condition is said to be incurable. The one thing he could tell her is that she will die earlier than expected, but that would bring him another whole set of problems.

@Talismaster In chapter 1, or at least how I understood it in the raws, she was supposed to live until graduation WITHOUT the treatment, which is why she's disappointed she couldn't make it.
Also, Rin died roughly 3 months after meeting Satoshi. I swear I do not want to see that kid's face by any means if they got born after only 3 months. The treatment would probably her more time but that would be a weird story path to go with.

Oh are you saying she met him for the first time after her heart transplant and that was her going to school with her condition? The way it read to me was issues were found out for the first time after she collapsed visiting the college. I suppose her planning on "supervising the MC's studies" so he could go to college with her is what threw me off. After reading it again it does work they way you say it happened, but it works my way too I think.

@Bladestone She was going to school with her condition. It doesn't make sense if Rin learns about it after collapsing because her reason for refusing the treatment is to "go back to school". However, after collapsing, she does not return to school since her body has become too weak.

She does not want to make Satoshi study to be able to go to college with him. It is solely so HE can go to college, albeit alone (or at least without her). On page 28 of chapter 1, Rin said "I'm sure it would be fun to be there with you..." (or originally "智君と通えたらきっと楽しいだろうなって。。。" which is a bit different but conveys the same feelings), elating to her condition and the fact that she will be dead by then, since she was supposed to stay alive until graduation.

What I thought was she refused treatment so she could go back to school (after collapsing), but she never made it, as in present time. The panels go from Rin looking back at her empty desk (present) to her hugging her uniform(past?) to her arguing about the treatment (past) then right to Rin entering her hospital room (present), all as Rin narrates. There isn't a flashback background and Rin really shouldn't be able to narrate her refusal to receive treatment since he wasn't there. If it was happening in real time, it makes a bit more sense with Rin narrating the current events. (IMO)

As for the translation part about college, this is probably just one of those hard to translate intent/literal meaning/and subtlety perfectly. What is the literal translation there?

Thanks for working on this and taking the time to explain BTW.
