This spoils the continuation of the story, you've been warned
The Four army coalition goes through with the plan and send a few groups of adventurers with special incendiary devices to burn down the forest, then all hell breaks loose, powerful demonic monsters get out of the burning forest in order to save themselves, and start to attack everything on their path just as planned....BUT what they failed to predict was the amount and power of said monsters who ended up spreading every way, not only towards hyserk but all over, Myrcia is overrun the forces at the fort can't hold back the monsters so it's a full on retreat and every man for themselves and hopefully they might be able to defend at Hyserk's borders.(in short the entire continent is in danger of falling to demonic beasts.) The MC uses Ignis Fatus to defend his group(to great effect) but even he has limits, soon they reach a somewhat defended city where every refugee is gathered there by the Hyserk army, the MC considers that a folly and that such a city won't stand a chance (even so he goes out every day to fight against monsters and find stranded refugee groups), and his superior there knows it, the plan is to use the refugees as diversion (since they are not Hyserk citizens) as diversion/lure for the army to escape...and that's when I stopped reading when the MC was informed of the plan. AKA this stops being a story about armies warring and becomes a survival monster story.
