His family situation isn’t that abnormal divorce is extremely common and yah it’s sad his mom is sick but that’s no reason to treat your friend horribly and not even care when she’s being bullied. In my opinion her family situation is a lot harder to deal with because her dad literally became delusional after her mother’s death and she’s being bullied on top of that.

Perhaps, but it seems like there may be more going on in his family dynamic. Additionally, even if divorces are more common now adays, it still can really hurt the children if it's not handled well. I've seen a lot of kids seriously messed up by their parent's divorce, mainly because they're exposed to so much hostility and manipulation.
