ill strongly disagree w calling this an axed ending, if uve been reading tetsuya tsutsui this guy never goes above 3 volumes. its a writing and artistic decision, i doubt he was ever planning a 4th volume lol. and if he were, hes had enough hits by now to be allowed a 4th volume... and like what loose ends would even need to be closed? the cop in the hospital got closure. he cries thinking about his mom; in the middle of all of this he lost sight of her, the thing that actually matters. its thematically coherent. same thing w keita, he didnt feel it was okay to come out now, he explicitely says he put saving the life of his daughter above remaining in hiding. this is why he came out now. because hed lost sight of the thing that actually matters
not my favorite tetsuya tsutsui sadly i was a bit disappointed w this one as it feels more like ur usual crime thriller than what id come to expect from him. but maybe i just wanted to read duds hunt in 3 volumes and noise isnt duds hunt so my expectations mislead me there. noise is about decisions made in anger, its about decisions made in fear, its about decisions you dont even agree with but that you have to live with now. its about killing a guy in a shed and realizing your friend who makes a living from hunting will lose his hunting license if this becomes known- so 3 years later youre living on your own in the mountains and you didnt see your daughter grow up. and for the first time, tsutsui didnt have an ending in mind when he wrote the 1st volume and it sort of shows lol
