Not defending the obviously retarded writing but MC was literally mind fucked to ignore Azusa. As soon as her mind controls powers were revealed, demon girl became the real MC since no one can go against her (aside from other demons of which story is about to introduce some). Everyone else is just victim NPCs and can be safely ignored.

Again, protag of the story is not the whimpy 4eyes, its the demon girl.
