The problem in this manga is the "revenge" part is so dragged down it's like the mc forget his childhood friend or something to the point that she suffers more

Dunno… Considering everything Mitsuru did to Azusa (especially if you know what happens in the extra novel chapter from volume 4), the “revenge” on him feels totally underwhelming.

Also, it’s kind of weird that Toshi is being nice to Azusa, considering what he did to Imai. If we take into account what Sawada-sensei said about her being different from Imai, and the fact that she stated that she loves Toshi, maybe Asmodeus is totally mistaken in thinking she’s dealing with an inferior demon.

Sales info:

While promoting the release of volume 7 on X, the author mentioned that the manga had surpassed 250,000 copies sold (physical + digital). That’s impressive given how bad this manga is. However, Shoseki Ranking data shows that physical sales for volume 7, released on September 19, were weak. For the first time, it failed to make the weekly ranking in its debut week, which required sales of around 1,200 copies.

My best guess for this drop is that readers didn’t like the conclusion of the Mitsuru revenge arc and the baggage that came with it (another demon, etc.). Below is a graph showing first-week sales for all volumes.

Note: volume 7 sold fewer than 1,200 copies, but since it didn’t chart, the exact number can’t be known. I’ve used 1,200 as an illustrative placeholder.

Thanks for the chart info! This is exactly what I check to see if a manga is popular in the East. Are Vol.7 numbers this low just because it’s so new? I suspect it usually takes a few months to see total sales, since most fans buy the new release immediately, then it trickles in later.

About the revenge part being underwhelming: I agree 120%. From the comments I’ve seen, almost everyone feels the same. Honestly it was expected - how badly the story dragged, only picking up much later. By that point the damage was done. Even if the revenge had been satisfying, it wouldn’t have saved it.

This might explain why the MC suddenly got another sex slave - a character who would normally just appear for 2–3 scenes and disappear -suddenly given to him (or maybe to the reader?) as a sort of compensation for the way the revenge plot was handled. That’s how I read the chapter when the MC asked the Demon girl about it.

It’s something, but really it’s so late. She’s still was being used and while she’s a side chick and not on the same page as a childhood friend, or a chick the douches was aiming at, its still meh. It’s kind of laughable how this new girl turned into a fuck shmeat for the MC who can apparently only be satisfied by him now. Beggars can’t be choosers, I guess. Seems like she might still be targeted later, possibly by the teacher, based on how the childhood friend is warming up to the new guy.

And if that’s true, it’s basically going from one burning dumpster to a fresh one. But if sales drop because of the weak revenge, I doubt the author would end the childhood friend with the new guy - though I wouldn’t mind, since she’s damaged enough and doesn’t really need to stick around. Since the whole mess started because of her, it makes sense she’d still be in love with MC but written off by the story’s end.

My prediction: until the big bulky antagonist appears, the story will likely focus on the teacher using the new guy to influence the childhood friend, either making her fall for him or get used, reigniting the “revenge” plot against the teacher and new guy.

I agree with the commenter who said this should have ended with the blonde guy getting arrested. The author seems to think they can milk it if fans keep buying, but the childhood friend keeps being used as a pawn for revenge. Honestly the author seems obsessed with cuckold scenarios, so this is probably the “best” plot they could come up with to statify the readers who arnt into it and tries to play both ways. I’ve seen better revenge arcs, sexual or not and since this hasn’t even hit the lowest bar, it seems it’ll continue to be this low.

Also I could misinterpreted things since I ignored the manga since around chapter 4 I believe, only checking it out today around chapters 52–60 when the revenge part concluded. I read these in one sitting in under 10 minutes. The chapters are ridiculously short; it could’ve been condensed into 2 chapters.

The chapter opens with the MC having sex with his harem: Hina, Chiaki (Sekido), and Imai. It’s been a week since Mitsuru’s arrest.

As Hina rides the MC, he thinks about what just happened.

The MC Thinks, "A week has passed since then. The Takeshige case has only been reported as that of an 18-year-old guy, and his name has been kept from the public. The school hasn’t made it public either. At least, for now… but…"

Mizuho: "Ugh... What an idiot. But... If you say that out of all of them, there would also be ones of Miku and the others, right?... Isn't that really bad?"
Takuma: "I asked my father’s secretary, Kishibe, to investigate. So far, there haven’t been any issues. Even so… Mitsuru was the only one who raped Miku."

Takuma thinks, "There’s no need to be afraid. It’s impossible for them to trace things that far to reach that case." As Takuma thinks this, an image of someone hanging by the neck appears in the background. It’s unclear whether it depicts a suicide caused by the group of bullies or some kind of murder cover-up.

Mizuho: "After Masataka, it was Mitsuru, right? Hina-chan and Chi-chan haven’t been getting along lately either… I don’t know how we ended up in this situation."
Takuma: "But… maybe it’s better if we talk to Hina and the others as soon as possible. And… with Sakuraba-kun too."
Mizuho: "Do you think he has the guts to snitch on us?"
Takuma: "Just in case, only just in case."

At the adjacent table, Akagi and Sawada-sensei are listening to the conversation. Akagi has a devilish smile.

Scene change: In prison, looking rough, Mitsuru is told by a jailer that he has a visitor.

Mitsuru: "...Eh?"

Nothing much to say, but I remembered that in chapter 1, when a teaser of the MC’s harem was shown, Imai wasn’t in the image. So it seems to me that the plot with the other demon wasn’t part of the original plan and was likely thought up later to extend the story.

Chapter 61 - New Harem System

The chapter opens with the MC having sex with his harem: Hina, Chiaki (Sekido), and Imai. It’s been a week since Mitsuru’s arrest.

As Hina rides the MC, he thinks about what just happened.

Hina: "AHHH..."

The MC Thinks, "A week has passed since then. The Takeshige case has only been reported as that of an 18-year-old guy, and his name has been kept from the public. The school hasn’t made it public either. At least, for now… but…"

There’s a picture of a newspaper with the headline:



Hina: "AH… I’M CUMMING… AAH! I’M CUMMING!"

The MC Thinks, "Azusa’s parents probably already know what really happened to their daughter. But I have no idea what they’re doing right now. I can’t go ask them…"

The MC Thinks, "I was also questioned. But the detectives didn’t show up. They just warned me not to do anything dangerous."

After finishing with Hina, Chiaki and Imai compete over who will clean the MC’s dick.

The MC recalls something Imai once said to him: “Am I faking it? Of course I am. If I’m going to be with you for the rest of my life, I have to secure my own place, don’t I?”

Chiaki and Imai lie on the bed with their asses raised, saying in unison, “Put it in…”

MC: "Guh..."

The MC chooses to fuck Chiaki first.

Chiaki: "Aaahh! It’s in! Aaa-ahh!"
Imai: "Eh..."

While waiting her turn, Imai talks to Hina. They’re both sitting on the sofa.

Hina: "For someone who’s on standby, you look pretty happy. Did something good happen?"
Imai: "Ah… you noticed? Actually, thanks to that incident, my father told me that we should live together… "
Hina: "Huh? What do you mean?"
Imai: "My parents got divorced, and I… live with my grandfather and grandmother. My father told me that he wants me to go live with him."
Hina: "Ugh… I don’t want to bother talking about my life, so I’ll pass."
Imai: "But you’re the one who asked me, Hina-nee! Please listen to me until the end."
Chiaki: "AAAHM..."

Scene change: Takuma and his girlfriend, Mizuho, are at a restaurant discussing what happened to Mitsuru. (Keep in mind, they’re the last remaining members of the group the MC plans to take revenge on.)

Takuma: "That guy… was caught raping a woman and arrested red-handed. On top of that, he apparently kept all the photos of the women he had slept with at home, and those were found too."
Mizuho: "Ugh... What an idiot. But... If you say that out of all of them, there would also be ones of Miku and the others, right?... Isn't that really bad?"
Takuma: "I asked my father’s secretary, Kishibe, to investigate. So far, there haven’t been any issues. Even so… Mitsuru was the only one who raped Miku."

Takuma thinks, "There’s no need to be afraid. It’s impossible for them to trace things that far to reach that case." As Takuma thinks this, an image of someone hanging by the neck appears in the background. It’s unclear whether it depicts a suicide caused by the group of bullies or some kind of murder cover-up.

Mizuho: "After Masataka, it was Mitsuru, right? Hina-chan and Chi-chan haven’t been getting along lately either… I don’t know how we ended up in this situation."
Takuma: "But… maybe it’s better if we talk to Hina and the others as soon as possible. And… with Sakuraba-kun too."
Mizuho: "Do you think he has the guts to snitch on us?"
Takuma: "Just in case, only just in case."

At the adjacent table, Akagi and Sawada-sensei are listening to the conversation. Akagi has a devilish smile.

Scene change: In prison, looking rough, Mitsuru is told by a jailer that he has a visitor.

Jailer: "Takeshige. You’ve got a visitor…"
Mitsuru: "...Eh?"

Insight:

Nothing much to say, but I remembered that in chapter 1, when a teaser of the MC’s harem was shown, Imai wasn’t in the image. So it seems to me that the plot with the other demon wasn’t part of the original plan and was likely thought up later to extend the story.

Thanks for adding, for the quick summary and your insight. I also think the story was changed to introduce this new girl and the whole “new demon” subplot + a fresh antagonist who (surprise, surprise) is after the same old childhood friend again yaaaawn

What I’m not sure about is why this change happened. Was it just to stretch or milk the series longer, or because the original “revenge” plot was weak and they needed something bigger to top it? Hope it will end soon, honestly is already going on for to long as it did.
