Obligatory poorly inserted friend from back in the day that is only inserted because its sooooooo unbelievably hard to be original for once and there needs to be a few chapters of miscommunication and arbitrary drama in a SoL.

Oh, what? You think its an arbitrary childhood friend thats halfway inserted to act as a love rival for zero reason other than drama? How unbelievably original, I can’t believe no one has thought of that before.

Shitposting aside, as other posters have said, I really hope its tied to why he ended up being germaphobic and acts as a catalyst for him to break out of his shell to actually make a move on FMC and not a poorly executed shit trope that’s only implemented because nothing original could be come up with for adding good drama.

On page 25, there was a seat on Nishino's right side. On page 26, all of a sudden she was right next to the seat railing (no seat on her right side), and there was a larger gap between Nakayama and Kobayakawa. I got confused because why would Nakayama move closer to Nishino off-screen with no explanation? Then on page 27, once again there was a seat on Nishino's right, and the gap between Nakayama and Kobayakawa returned to how it was on page 25.

That's continuity error.

It likely comes from page composition - when pages are laid out, individual panels can be drawn, resized, added or removed out of order. If the original scene had a different number of panels, or panels with different aspect ratios, character spacing can be changed when it's adjusted later.

For example if the page was planned with five panels, and later reduced to four, and one panel was stretched to replace two smaller ones, the characters may be repositioned proportionally to fit the new layout. Other posibility is they needed to put all characters into smaller panels, so they draw them closer. It's usually just artifact of panel layout changes, or trying to fit without making one part of panel feel empty.

Two things to note here. When she says "I like it a lot" she just says "好き" (suki) which out of context can literally just mean "I like you" or "I love you," which is why they get so flustered. The second thing is that the person that sends Nakayama the message on his phone at the end is saved with their name ending in "chan," implying that it's a girl that he is close to.
Ye when I saw the page with 好き I found their reactions a bit weird so I went to check the French translation and in that one it’s translated as “I love you” which also doesn’t fit with part of their reaction. I agree that a note would probably be the only way since there is no equivalent to 好き in French or English given the context

That still fails to convey the "I like you" implication :) I think that using "I like it" or "I like it a lot" is totally fine, just with an added translator's note explaining the nuance.

Yeah, I just meant the "a lot" is more linked to daisuki and not suki. This type of confusion doesn't really happen in languages that don't typically have omitted subjects.
