I guess we'll see whether I'm at all in the ballpark with any of that.
This is definitely realistic for a manga like that - a happy ending with no real obstacles, no realistic loss, just some bumps on the road.
I'm just whining because (even if it could fk up sales/make too many people angry as you noticed) i kinda like stories that i can try to relate to, or judge based on my own life experiences - so even wacky over the top unrealistic idea can be (with some bending mental framework to accomodate story setting) believable. And i'm kinda sighing internally when i see i'll have to bend my mental framework again with "world is normal but suddenly every loser will get an angel to unconditionally love him".
And here we have, in other characters POV, some loser freak, that decided to wear basically a hazmat suit to pool cleaning in hot summer, hitting away hand of a popular, extrovert, good looking girl, that was obviously being nothing but nice and flirting with him (for who knows what reason too - as if loner losers with basically no redeeming qualities were ever popular). IDK about other people, but i'm pretty sure this wouldn't end too well in any of the schools i went to. Yep, i know MC is acting this way because of OCD, not many people would care IRL.
Whined enough so back to reading slop for me i guess :haa:

This series would instantly become a classic to me if it just straight-up had this be the turning point of the dark path for him in life. Of course, ultimately, id love a happy end. But id have nothing but respect for the author if they said alright cool now he suffers.

It's also hard to say where the author wants to go because their past work has been adaptations and a short comedy series. Not saying they won't continue down that path. But if you knew of the MHA authors' previous work a happy-go-lucky superhero manga wasn't exactly expected.

the other difficult part for me is that we're given no context for why the ML is...well, the way he is. Usually something like germaphobic behavior in children would be the product of upbringing or environmental circumstances in home life - an example would be:

-

parents are slobs, ML went to elementary / middle school unbathed and was bullied; so he "overcorrected" and cares way too much about cleanliness and is hostile toward others as a result of the bullying behavior from past classmates. Hence why the "nice but messy girl" next to him sets him off so badly - could be some triggering behavior from his past that dredges up those memories.

-

I'd actually be surprised if that was the case, given the tone of this is rather light all things considered (even with the slap/rejection of this chapter - which feels like it's meant to stand out as a major shift in the plot), but it would go a long way to contextualizing why he is the way he is now.

Which is why I wonder/suspect whether we'll start getting chapters outside of school in the near future - he's very visibly rejected her now, in a way that's not just him telling her off with words. And even she now sees there's no "misunderstanding" what he's done. If he starts isolating and spiraling and she starts ignoring him, we might start seeing more of his personal "not school" life, as there just wouldn't be enough going on around him during class to fill up a chapter.
And I'd welcome that, because having fleshed-out characters , especially ones with such strong mannerisms and quirks, are much easier to relate to and understand when they're realized within the world they exist in, and have explanations for behaving as they do.
Plus it might help him on his arc of finding himself, now that he's likely on the path of True Lonerism and will need some trigger to make a change; getting backstory helps add in additional hooks that could better facilitate that progression for his arc from here.

He so strongly opposed to the idea of getting "dirty" that I feel like something huge must have happened in his past to make him this way. This level of germaphobia just doesn't really seem natural.

Maybe someone close to him in the past died out in the rain (car crash?) and ended up covered in mud or something, and he tried to clean it off them thinking that they might still be alive, and got dirty himself in the process. Then, after that, any time he feels "dirty" it reminds him of that, and how futile his attempts to "save" that person were?

There's not really any evidence for that specifically, but I feel like there has to be something, right?

I like how heavy you went with the backstory example, personally
But yes, unless the author is keeping this very lighthearted and "shallow" in terms of the extent the story's going to go, it's all but guaranteed that something big or at least defining happened in his childhood to make him this way.

Given he's also kind of hostile to his peers (especially the FL, but he even is kind of snappish at the dude in this one, above the denying the dating of the FL thing) - I kinda wonder if maybe he grew up in a household that wasn't clean (for whatever reason - absent/abusive parent, poverty, or something), and he showed up unbathed to school in elementary, was bullied/mocked, and now is hyper-obsessed with cleanliness and image/presentation in reaction.

It would also sort of explain how "outsized" his first immediate reaction was to the FL getting up in his space in chapter 1, if that sort of interaction was reminiscent of how some people start out before bullying him before.
I hope we do get some backstory and explanation at some point, though. Plus it might help give additional hooks to see him progress through this rather low point in his personal arc of the story.

This feels like chapter 15 or something material, already doing this kind of drama in chapter 6 feels way too fast.

From my perceptive mc thinks that being touched by a boy she has stain i don't know how to phrase it but yeah
Pretty sure he’s just disgusted at his own feelings, both love and jealousy are probably things he associates with being dirty.

He might be coupling love and lust together which is also why he’s so adamant on not having feelings for her.

Thanks for the chapter.
I was kinda hoping the series would have her actually try and respect his boundaries and learn work with him while accounting for his germaphobia but its become clear that it never intended to do that and instead wants the mc to be some sort of tsundere. And if theres anything i despise in romance more than a tsundere love interest, its a tsundere main character.

Yeah. That slap felt like a rejection of himself, as much as of her.

Up to that point he'd just yell at her or grumble, but never got physical. It wasn't until he was confronted with his feelings toward her, and the growing awareness and realization that other students were lusting after/objectifying her, that his behavior suddenly escalated so much.

And she was about to mirror the behavior of the other boy to him. Not pulling something out of his hair, but touching him, while he's boiling over with these festering conflicting feelings. He'd never wanted anything to do with her, she'd always pestered him, but now she's being friendly and physical with others, and what does that make him? And why does he care? And why can't this feeling disappear? And and and

And then he snapped.
