Honestly, the brother/smol princess isn't too bad, and he needs to get over his sister complex anyway. Or tone it down a few notches.

Haughty princess can go haughty off somewhere; she's neither wanted nor needed.

Prince is a good guy, but suffers from the, "You're not like other girls," complex. He'd probably be better off with someone who understand their culture better while being more aligned against it, so they can more effectively work against it.

I don't buy the narrative that a person's Happiness with a capital "H" need be defined by a single concept (marriage, career, identity, et cetera). I think there's an awful lot to be said for the short-, mid-, and long-term gains that can be had by successfully balancing work, play, and family. And not just in happiness, but in purpose, meaning, satisfaction, and other things that will sustain a person through hard times far more reliably than just happiness, which tends to be something of a fair-weather friend.

People are complex. Characters, on the other hand, aren't always. I tend to see anything with a magic bullet solution as cheap writing. That is, any single event, action, decision, trait, ability, or whatever that solves a complex problem, such as almost any psychological issue.

If there's a trauma, that takes a long time with a lot of effort to get past, not just one thing that happens at one time, or one choice that immediately solves it. Even falling in love at first sight, let alone over time, usually requires more than just one thing that clicks. It can be one thing that starts it, but that can't also be the same thing that completes it.

I respect the hell out of them for doing their best to escape, and eventually accepting that "Someone like me doesn't deserve [thing]" are not words they should utter, because they do deserve it.

I see much the same when it comes to a lot of male MCs as well the moment they don't act as if they're the stud in a porno and/or a psychopathic killer. I see it generally less with female MCs, but still far too often. Also FIFY.
