There comes a day in the life of every man that they will do something clearly dumb or inefficient just to prove something or say a message better than what words could convey. And this is it. If Yutaka didn't do what he did, he couldn't prove to Tsumiki that she could rely on other people. Words are cheap, actions are better.

also I love when animanga/media in general talk about superhumans still being human, and that they aren't obligated to always be the strong one who helps those around them, it always makes me feel good, especially in a story like this
