Is "Lord Claude" an honorific out of respect or affection? or a title for nobility? I'm assuming the former; does the original suggest one way or the other?

"Lord" is the title he would have as the son of a count. When characters use "-sama" honorific in japanese, I translate it as them referring to the person with their title of nobility. So Keios-sama = Lord Keios and Caroline-sama = Princess Caroline. It's how I've seen official translations done for other anime/manga in these settings.

I think he's at least aware that communicating with her will be extremely difficult because of the history of misunderstandings he has already built. He needs a way to show sincerity because words alone won't save him by a long shot.

all of Nicole's classmates have had their stock rise for me since they actively started running interference on Keios.
Legitimately laugh-out-loud moments whenever that ends up happening, I don't know how they managed to end up being so funny.

Just finished catching up on this...are Nicole's parents just setting her up for failure what is going on lmao

1. The first meeting between Nicole and Keios going bad as children, mom tells her daughter they'll be together all day during school YEARS down the line and he will begin to like her...then does not follow up on that progress at all, or even seem to be in contact with Keios' parents to try to set up meetings more frequently in the meantime, or see what's the hold up on the letters? (given she could ask the servants how frequently the letters are being sent and received and he just eventually stopped??)
2. Also no mention of pre-academy childhood friends for Nicole? Where are her childhood social connections, did her parents just watch her be a wallflower at social events
3. Lets their daughter go out without an escort, even though it freaks out everyone else in this universe? I guess Nicole isn't telling the servants that directly and so it doesn't get relayed back, but then why are the servants this bad too? They just assume she's out with Keios every time even though she hasn't sent any letters and he never sends any?
4. Mom tells her daughter she can only go abroad and pursue her dreams if she gets a scholarship that is only awarded to 3 people and is historically won by men only??

I mean maybe Nicole is just that quiet and withdrawn even with her parents for some reason. Or both Nicole and Keios are trying to hide how bad their (lack of) relationship is, but if Keios is really that desperate I feel like he has nothing to lose at this point to ask her parents for advice, because he's clearly incapable of figuring out what she likes via conversation

I hadn't even thought about points 2 and 3 because it shows that not even her parents really care about her lol. They found her a man as a kid and that's their job done.
