For those who are curious, I have looked into the claims Yamaoka made about brown rice taking on the pesticides and antibiotics in fertilizer. It seems to be true. Several papers have been written on the subject (though a lot of them use scientific language that's a little too complex for me to parse).
Generally, when brown rice absorbs the unwanted compounds, it deposits them in the bran and germ, together with the good nutrients. Milling the bran layer away will reduce risk of pesticide intake.
