so was the environment the clams lived in that effected flavour

i get kaibaras hate for shiro (i really dont cause hasnt been explained thoroughly yet) but if shiro hadnt interfered, ryozo wouldnt have figured it out, and he woulda lost a talented chef

I never get why the talented chefs don’t just quit Ryozo’s kitchen for his abusive attitude

Yep...

Kaibara is angry at Shiro for a couple of reasons. First, because when Shiro's mother died, he blamed Kaibra and got back at him by destroying millions of yen worth of Kaibara's pottery. Shiro feels that Kaibara was abusive to his mother, but he doesn't quite have the full picture of his parents' relationship...

I hate to drudge up old topic, but this right here is why the whale chapters were so iffy. Like, here they're criticising the government for not doing enough in conservation and/or greenlighting projects that will endanger the clams. But over there with the whales it just sounds more like "we have the right to eat whale because there's plenty of them, so there".

Had there been a similar discussion about needing to make effort to protect and conserve the whales while eating them it'd be less off-puttingly hypocritical.
