First off, apologies for a couple of the panels being screwed up by the machine going haywire with the ellipses. I can't fix it without making it worse. It'll look better when Mugiwara does his TL of this chapter.

Second, I gotta say, just my own personal taste, I'm not the biggest fan of miso, whereas I quite like mushrooms, especially truffle. So yeah, you're not selling me on this one, Kariya-san.

Being a person that lived surrounded by a lot of soybeans in my daily life, I really liked Miso a lot.

For marinated egg yolk I prefer soy sauce though. You add soy sauce, sugar, ginger, roasted garlic, and roasted onion, put the egg yolks into the marinated mix and wait for a day or two. It's heavenly :)

Anyway, thank you for the chapter as always ^^

Not particularly. It’s not that common around where I grew up in small town southwestern Pennsylvania, so I never developed any taste for it… Sometimes I’ll like it if it’s spicy enough, but generally, I’m not a soup/broth guy, and I tend to be a pretty picky eater. For example, I couldn’t ever eat the dish you suggested, because I dislike onions (and around here, onions are a staple ingredient in cooking, but I just loathe the taste and texture)… I’m quirky that way. Or as George Carlin once described people who eat like me, “a giant pain in the ass”.

I think I remember this being referenced in one of the ala carte books, clearly a chapter from a later volume. Yuzan got better eggs, so it's not necessarily because the cooking itself is better.
I wonder if they will just call this moot or if they do over the contest. The other chapter didn't mention the outcome.

wasnt the ultimate menu supposed to be something anyone/everyone could reproduce? think shiro already losing for using high end, imported truffles

He lost so many times using this method, I feel bad for Yuzan that his advice is being ignored again and again.

its something shiro preaches himself, to use fresh, locally sourced goods, but whenever against his dad, immediately forgets
