God save me from having the type of friends Kurita does. 🫠
This may look like me protecting the manga's creative decisions here, but I think that part about Kurita being like that is because it's easier for her to be that way to Yamaoka, either out of her comfort zone or the fact that she's someone who knows Yamaoka the most and is the closest to him in the company. One of the things I really find annoying about Kurita is how she can get so bratty and argumentative over inane things (like at Yamaoka over Niki/Futaki) which sometimes get all of them in trouble, yet she got none of that energy for her "friends".
Nah, the correct answer is that the author cares jack about character consistency. If you go back to the much older chapters you'll see that Kurita is much softer overall, she has the same kind of reserved/quiet attitude towards Yamaoka too, but then the author starts to make Yamaoka become the women's punching bag because LOL Comedy I guess. This may look like me protecting the manga's creative decisions here, but I think that part about Kurita being like that is because it's easier for her to be that way to Yamaoka, either out of her comfort zone or the fact that she's someone who knows Yamaoka the most and is the closest to him in the company.
While with her fellow female "friends", however, Kurita can't really show her true colors, which I think is ironic since you'd expect Kurita to be more open with them rather than with Yamaoka.
Still, it does get really annoying at times seeing Kurita and her female "friends" that way.
In my opinion, Its more the fact that this is legit none of her friends business. Plus, as I mentioned, a couple chapters ago, they were ready to give Yamaoka shit for letting Futaki flirt around with him, solely because she's rich and itd be shallow of him to go for her when he could have Kurita....huh? Reading the comments, is it that strange that people's personalities change as they become closer and open up to each other? That's the impression I get from the series.
They're urging Kurita to go for Dan because he's objectively a much better catch than Yamaoka, and from their pov Yamaoka isn't even interested in her while Dan is, so why go for someone who isn't interested in her? That's the whole point of testing him (not that I agree with it, but I see their reasoning).
I think it's rather realistic actually. Friends support friends, they want Yamaoka to be on Kurita's side because they know she likes him, so they don't want him flirting with anyone else.In my opinion, Its more the fact that this is legit none of her friends business. Now they insist she should go for Dan when Dan doesnt even know her really, and that hes a catch because he's rich and coming up in the world. How is that any less shallow?
Thirdly, her friends married men of honestly pretty humble careers. They didnt marry for career prospects, so why do they insist Kurita should think about that?
Or long story short, theyre being real inconsistent for the sake of drama.
I see your points, I still feel theyre busybodies and someone elses lovelife isnt any of their business if nobody is even dating yet.I think it's rather realistic actually. However, someone better than Yamaoka comes along, and if Yamaoka isn't interested in her, then it is in her best interests to move on to someone who is, and being a good catch is a bonus. I believe they'd be acting very differently if Yamaoka was also interested in her. They'd probably be quite hostile towards Dan who's trying to steal Kurita away. Kurita already has another suitor, the photographer. I don't remember too clearly at this point, but I think they have tried to encourage her to consider him?
Adding on to that, Futaki's personality is quite unpleasant compared to Dan's.
Imo the main difference between their relationships and Kurita's is that their partners were also interested in them. It's not like they haven't tried to support Kurita with Yamaoka. But if it isn't going anywhere, it's time to move on.
I will say that I don't agree with their methods, but I understand their intentions.
Yeah I agree, especially since he gets invited to hang out with them or their partners on their days off. I don't agree with what they're doing with their pushiness as well. There is also a discnnect for me with the fact Tabata and alot of Yamaoka's coworkers dont seem to actually view him as a friend, as if he hasnt been helpful and even instrumental in fixing stuff for them privately AND professionally. He gets treated so bad, like he isnt a friend to anyone.
