Forgot to mention in the previous comment, but similar to how that guy likes rice with Worcestershire sauce, I like ketchup rice.
Just ketchup and rice, maybe some salt again to cut the sourness. Sometimes I add cheese and heat it until melted, and call it "pizza rice".
Interesting, cus I like a few drops of soy sauce on buttery spaghetti.
I feel it cuts through with a salty touch.
Everyones different, ofcourse.
Soy sauce just inherently carries its own flavour and not just salty, so it changes how the food taste.
I don't dislike soy sauce, but when I eat "butter rice" I'm looking for just that rice and butter taste. Maybe sear the rice a bit in a pan or brown up the butter for some variation, but nothing else aside from salt. Not even pepper, because pepper is not just a spicy zing, it has a flavour too.
