As usual, the manga slapstick end truly a vibe killer...
Thank God the OVA don't do that
Normally I, at the very least, wouldn't disagree, but in this case this whole chapter was a masterclass of Yamaoka's way with words and control of the situation. Without belittling Yuzan other than to say his Bizen example was incomplete, he masterfully managed to create a greater peace and a firm anti-pesticide message without demonizing the Americans. It was a major win for him, and a truly thought provoking commentary. Having the typical slapstick at the end, especially at Yamaoka's expense after all the amazing work he just did, really feels demeaning to his efforts and to the emotional maturity he showed.I'll be honest, I didn't mind this one so much. Honestly, this whole arc was kind of a drag to me so a little levity didn't hurt.

I suppose that makes sense. I don't fully agree, but I see where you're coming from, and I don't fully disagree either. To me it’s closer to like something you’d see in an old screwball comedy. Kurita is hardly Carole Lombard, but the ending isn’t that egregious to me. I mean it’s not like Yamaoka is getting brutalized like one of the Three Stooges. That absolutely would’ve annoyed me. Kurita made a quip about him and Yamaoka chases after her. Honestly, it’s downright flirting, it seems to me.
But also a reminder that time of information is not really widely available to masses..The resolution is literally just "We will put both types on the market and let the people decide". We didn't have to spend all that time to just end with this lame conclusion, a bunch of people already said this in the first chapter of the arc. That's just the very basic logical line of thought.
Basically, the author just wants to yap and ramble about Trivia and "Facts" of rice because he can't do anything to change the reality. This kinda annoys me more and more ever since I found out that dude doesn't even live in Japan.
Nah, this is just a biased rant being forcefully crammed into the manga. Bro really just got so mad he wants to rant on and on and on, whether you like it or not. I've mentioned before that he got so personally offended about this rice stuff he directly referenced himself in the chapter (I think it was in part 1 or 2 of this). But also a reminder that time of information is not really widely available to masses..
So this kind Yap information is actually okay
