It's weird yes, but unique skills in this case are "you only get one, and can't get it by any other route" vs "only one person in the world has it"

No, that isn't entirely a logical way to do "unique" but there are a few characters (eventually ) that have the only known example of that skill.

There have been hints before that the skill was already known and opinions about it widely shared though. That wouldn't have been true if Karin was the only person ever to have it.
